Francis Tuttle , Son. ltlc Navy Plane Crash Kills 12 A Navy plane which crashed in- to the sea off Montauk Point last Wednesday night , was responsible for the death of 12 officers and men, according to official informa- tion. Boats manned by the Navy and Coist Guard, based on Long Is- land, and planes from Quonsct base, left immediately the report came in to proceed to the spot , eight miles off shore, where the plane crash was believed to have taken place, but no one was found. Among those who died wa* Lieutenant (jg) Joseph Prentice Willetts, U. S. N. R., ot Roslyn, former captain of the Harvard varsity hockey team. Lt. Willetts, the son of Mr. and Mrs William Prentice Willetts of Roslyn Heights, who had been graduated from Harvard in 19*1, would have been 25 years old September 30. Lt. Willetts attended the Green- vale School , Grcenvale and St. Paul's School , Concord, N. J., be- fore entering Harvard. He receiv- ed his naval tarining at the Naval Air Station at Pensacola. Navy PlaneCrash Kills 12

A Navy plane which crashed in-to the sea off Montauk Point lastWednesday night, was responsiblefor the death of 12 officers andmen, according to official informa-tion.

Boats manned by the Navy andCoist Guard, based on Long Is-land, and planes from Quonsctbase, left immediately the reportcame in to proceed to the spot,eight miles off shore, where theplane crash was believed to havetaken place, but no one was found.
