Louisiana State Personnel Development Grant
A grant awarded to the LDOE in 2011 for 5 years
Funded through the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP)
Project staff is housed at LSU through an Interagency-Agreement
Focus is to improve outcomes for students with disabilities through sustainable, evidence-based practices
What is LaSPDG?
Four Focus Areas
(1) Data-Based Decision Making - the use and effectiveness of data-based decision making.
(2) Family Engagement - the effectiveness of meaningful school-family partnerships.
(3) Inclusive Practices - the use and effectiveness of inclusive practices.
(4) Culturally Responsive Practices - the use and effectiveness of culturally responsive practices.

Financial allocation, support staff, access to resources, and professional development
Professional development and support from Pyramid Community Parent Resource Center (pyramidparentcenter.org) and People First of Louisiana (www.peoplefirstla.org)

LaSPDG Family Facilitator
This should be a LEA-level position and at least .5FTE The FF will provide PD and support to families within
your district How can the FF be supported?
Use the LaSPDG allocation to support the .5FTE Use LEA funds to support the .5FTE (IDEA) Use current LEA-level position and buy-out .5FTE
(ex. Title I Parent Liaison, IDEA Parent Liaison, etc.) Utilize current position with aligned roles and
responsibilities; may add responsibilities for LaSPDG if needed

LEA Commitments
Assign a point of contact Identify and support a Family Facilitator Participate in LaSPDG events Identify existing LEA Level Improvement Team (Use
current structures as much as possible) Commit to full participation for the duration of the
grant Maintain documentation of grant-related activities Sign Letter of Intent annually Complete and submit all paperwork to LDOE (budget
summary, budget detail, project application, letter of assurance)
