2010-2019: TEN YEARS ALREADY!We have so many memories that the events tend to get mixed up in our minds, as we look back at a decade of enthusiasmfor multihulls. If we had to choose one in particular, it would without doubt be the first, which began on 15th April 2010…It was something everyone was looking forward to with world premieres making the event even more extraordinary andincredible, but the key factor was already in place: the multihull industry had its very own boat show.

The road we have travelled seems so simple, as the pleasure boat market for catamarans and trimarans with sails or engineshas steadily developed and is still thriving.

This ten year period is a springboard in the history of the Show, but the goal is to ensure it remains the reference event forthe sector and that its fully deserved and unstoppable growth may continue. The Show welcomes more and more boats, but more importantly, more and more new products from Europe and around the world.

With a lot of support from its loyal partners, inventive suppliers, the harbour teams, the Town of La Grande Motte, theHérault Department and the Occitanie Region, together we manage to achieve the feat of welcoming most of the world’sbuilders to a site that meets their requirements and has been completely renovated. Here they are able to delight visitorswho come from around the world by showing off their skills thanks to the best presentation possible, personalised visitsand the all-important sea trials.

As we look back over the past ten years, we would like to thank all those involved in the sector including suppliers, architects, who come up with ingenious ideas for sailing faster, more comfortably, more economically and more environmentallyfriendly, the charter firms, who offer a wide range of possibilities with all the different types of multihull to take you toparadise locations.

We must not forget either all those who work on the design and development of racing multihulls to offer even bettersailing on two or three hulls, as these boats are often adapted to pleasure boat sailing… There are also the racing yachtsmenwho have astounded us… The pleasure boat sector finds there its inspiration for its best designs to come up with boatsthat are suitable and make multihull voyages a dream that is accessible to the greatest number of people.

To continue down this road and see our dreams come true, we look forward to seeing you from 24th to 28th April 2019 inLa Grande Motte - (Hérault), France.

The concept of the International Multihull Boat Show was launched in 2009. The fact that catamarans and trimarans are ondisplay fully configured in the water, and that economic constraints have restricted logistical costs, help to explain the successof this boat show reserved exclusively for multihulls. That is why in April each year the harbour in La Grande Motte hosts the biggest display of cruising multihulls.Alongside the dock, the exhibitors’ village is home to the whole sector with the various suppliers, chandleries, charter firms, sailmakers, transporters, insurance and banking companies, etc.

FIGURES CONCERNING THE GLOBAL MARKETFOR THE MULTIHULL INDUSTRYThe International Multihull Show will be celebrating its tenth anniversary this year and progress continues.

There are indeed more and more exhibitors who come and present their latest products. The yards have no hesitation indisplaying their new boats for their world premiere.

The enthusiasm of users can be seen in the ever increasing number of boats produced. The figures speak for themselves, ifwe compare the turnover for French cruising monohulls to the market for cruising multihulls. Today, we can see that themarkets are very close, but the rate of progress is very different.

French production:- Turnover for cruising monohulls: 325 M€ with a growth of 3.5 % - Turnover for cruising multihulls: 335 M€ with a growth of 35 %

These two figures are very significant, as France represents 75 % of global production.

This production is chiefly down to the following yards:Lagoon (Bénéteau Group, global leader), Fountaine-Pajot (n°2), Catana Group, Nautitech, Outremer, Privilège Marine,Marsaudon Composites, Neel, Aventura, etc.

We should add that all these yards have a production capacity that is higher and can meet the needs of the market. Takingall the different sorts of boats into consideration including catamarans and trimarans with sails or engines, this comes to atotal of between 850 and 900 boats.

An international market

6

We estimate that global production comes to between 1000 and 1200 boats, divided up into 85 % sail boats (800 to 1,000boats) and 15 % motorised (150 to 200 boats).

The world’s second biggest producer is South Africa with in particular the Robertson & Caine yard (N°3 in the world andknown for its Leopard, Sunsail and Moorings brands), which has an annual production of around 200 catamarans with sailsor engines.

There are also yards with more limited production, Knysna Yachts, Royal Cape Catamaran, Xquisite and many others…

Management program, a sales tool

Looking beyond the production, we can see boats now being used and purchased in different ways. Even if the figures arenot that precise, we know that the wide range of boats on offer from charter firms, has a lot of influence on the market(around 35 to 40 %) and that is particularly the case for multihulls, which are technically more accessible.

The future

At the present moment, it is hard to know how the market will evolve, but we should keep a close watch on power multihulls,as the market seems particularly buoyant.

We will have to wait and see in the next few editions to see what surprises and new products lie in store.

BACK TO 2018 EDITION• More than 14,000 visitors in 2018 with an active approach• An international client base with 55 % from abroad:

- 20 % from North America- 10 % from Germany - 10 % from Spain- 5 % from Italy- 10 % from the rest of the world

(Russia, Eastern Europe, Asia)• Around a hundred boats under negociation during the five days

of the show (unofficial source)• Genuine diversity with more than 60 multihulls on show

AVENTURA 44 - WORLD PREMIEREAventura continues the renewal of its range of catamarans, and for 2019 is offeringthis brand-new boat designed by Lasta Design. The Aventura 44 is the biggest vesselbuilt by the company, which is getting straight into blue-water cruising boats.Aboard, we find once again the saloon/cockpit concept dear to the builder, and ge-nerous accommodation, to offer real comfort both under sail and in the anchorage. We thus find a 3 or 4 cabin version, with 2 or 4 heads, to meet the needs of thegreatest number of owners. With its longitudinally stepped hulls and sandwich construction, the Aventura 44offers a lot of volume, while limiting the weight – a guarantee of good performanceunder sail.

BALI 4.3 MY - WORLD PREMIEREResolutely modern lines, combined with a choice of carefully selected, fine mate-rials, give the Bali 4.3 MY a strong, elegant and prestigious appearance in the pureststyle of a cruising Trawler. Like her sailing cousins from the same yard, she has allthe innovations that make Bali so successful and an unrivalled living space in herclass.Aft lounge cockpit surrounded by a wide terrace with grill. Sheltered double accessto the flybridge.Fully-equipped upper deck, and a helm station orthy of the largest boats, she willtake you to the far side of the world in absolute comfort...

BALI 4.1With the 40-footer, the Bali range is now particularly consistent. Just like its bigsisters, the 4.3, 4.5 and the new 5.4, the Bali 4.1 offers an open space between thecockpit and the saloon.A glazed door which folds away on electric rams allows the boat to go from theCozy mode (closed) to the Lounge mode (open to the anchorage)...Once again on the 4.1 we find the forward cockpit - there is no trampoline on theBalis - and the very nice glazed doors which disappear totally to offer optimum ven-tilation.

C-CAT 37 HYBRID VERSION - WORLD PREMIEREHere is a genuine comfortable cruising catamaran, but one which hasn’t for all thatforgotten to offer real excitement at the helm, and performance worthy of thename. The Italian builder is offering the boat in a version with keels or dagger-boards, depending on the owner's choice and the boat’s program. Because the C-Cat 37 can easily become an ocean cruiser, or excel round the buoys, when theexcellent steering position will be particularly efficient. The Italian shipyard willpresent in La Grande Motte a hybrid version based on a simple principle: 1 starboardelectric engine, 1 port atmospheric engine, classic port maneuvers on 2 engines, possibility of silent movement on electric engine alone, autonomy increased bysolar panels and alternators of the 2nd engine.

DRAGONFLY 32 EVOLUTIONWORLD PREMIERE AFLOATBoats, as no fewer than two new boats will be presented to the public. The 32 Evolution is designed on the basis of the famous Dragonfly 32, but it reallyis a new boat, with completely redesigned, more voluminous, wave-piercing floats, allowing even faster sailing, but also greater safety in strong wind conditions witha choppy sea.The 32 Evolution will replace the Dragonfly 32 Supreme in the range, while the 32Touring remains in the catalogue.

8

ITA 14.99 - NEWPresent at the last edition with drafts and a model, the Italian shipyard comes backwith the Ita 14.99, a very beautiful ocean cruising catamaran, designed to be sailedby a couple or a shorthanded crew, while offering nice interior services and perfor-mance worthy of a powerful boat.Deep daggerboards, a generous sail area, high-tech construction in carbon-epoxy– the catamaran has enough to cover the miles at good average speeds. The no1 is in the water, and the nos 2 and 3 are under construction.Note the builder's choice to offer the boat as standard with hybrid electric propulsion(Oceanvolt).

CK64 - WORLD PREMIEREBuilt by Claude Kermoal’s boat yard, the CK64 is a luxury 20 m aluminium catamaranwhich is fully equipped. Also known as “Adventure”, the boat was designed around a project involving sailingon long trips around the world aboard a catamaran for a period of seven years andis based on the principle of time-sharing with other joint owners.

EOS 54The Barreau signature is evident all over the Eos 54, which demonstrates the fun-damentals which are dear to the Parisian naval architect/sailor: simplicity and crisplines, but especially above average performance!Aimed at an informed sailing public who seek lively wakes, the Eos 54 looks afterthose on board in a carefully designed interior where white lacquer reflects theabundant natural light.During the show, the Eos brand will present the drafts of its little sister, the Eos 47,designed by Marc Lombard, which is currently under construction at the builderHervé, in La Rochelle, France.

LEOPARD 43 PCTo replace the 39, Leopard has given 4 more feet to architects Simonis and Voogdto play with. It's very obvious throughout, whether it's the interior space, thesubtle use of stepping, the outside space, or even in the performance which takesit up to 24 knots. The flybridge, direct access forward from the galley, 3 and 4 cabin versions, pluscrew, and you can see that it’s the biggest of the small Leopards!

LAGOON 46 - WORLD PREMIERE AFLOATHere is the latest boat from Lagoon, a 46-foot catamaran which is going to havethe difficult task of replacing the 450, the most-sold cruising catamaran, with 746Fly versions plus around a hundred S versions in the water. After the 39 and the 52, then the 42, 40 and 50, the Lagoon 46 again uses the aft-positioned rig, which has shown its advantages and its potential.A boat which appeals through its volumes and accommodation, but one which alsooffers performance under sail and versatility which will appeal to family crews, cruisingon the oceans…

LEOPARD 50It goes without saying that when it first arrived from South Africa, the Leopard 50caused a sensation. As the forerunners of the idea of a forward cockpit, which hassince become a must-have, architects Simonis & Voogd have optimized the conceptand the space aboard this cat which can accommodate up to 5 cabins plus crew.Available with or without a flybridge, the coachroof on the 50 extends forward, protecting the passengers first and foremost, and enhances the aesthetics.

MARSAUDON TS5 - WORLD PREMIEREThe TS5 is design like the TS42’s big brother. The essence and style remain.Easy to manoeuver, handle and maintain, light and performant, the TS5 offersunique sailing sensations on a catamaran. The platform offers a very generous living space.A catamaran designed for off-shore cruising combining performance and comfort.

NEEL 65 EVOLUTION - WORLD PREMIEREOn this flagship model, the concept created by Eric Bruneel takes on a new dimen-sion. Beyond the revealing presence of the flybridge, the cockpit/saloon platformspace is simply enormous! On one level: galley, saloon, indoor living room, outdoor lounge, chart table / watch-keeping station, and... an owner’s suite with sea views!A guest cabin sits in each hull and two in the center hull. Each cabin has its ownbathroom, but also perfect privacy.Darnet Design’s interior is helping to raise this new model to an even higher levelof upscale yachting.

NEEL 47 - WORLD PREMIERENeel is going to be presenting a brand-new trimaran designed by Marc Lombard, the Neel 47, in April, at the International Multihull Show. Once again on the 47, wefind the famous ‘cockloon’, the generous area which opens completely to offer alarge open space between the saloon and the cockpit, or separate, protected areas. The owner’s cabin is situated on the same level, on the platform; it offers an incredibleview over the anchorage. With a clever set of sliding bulkheads, it opens easily ontothe saloon… Magic, with a 270° view over the surroundings! Finally, the floats arealso fitted out, and offer totally independent suites.

NAUTITECH 54As the flagship of the Franco-German partners, the Nautitech 54 offers an admirableconsistency with the weight being carefully controlled. If the choice between 3 or4 cabins in the hulls seems rather traditional, there are in fact 6 possible versionsof interior layout to surprise you.Especially since there is also a choice between twin helm stations aft (on the 542),or a single helm station on the aft face of the coachroof (on the 541).

10

OUTREMER 51Discovered at the last edition, the new version of Outremer Yachting’s bestsellerhas developed in both looks and details. With its outer hull drawn by Patrick Le Quément and its inverted bows, the linesmore than ever reflect the degree of performance delivered. Inside, the chart tableand galley gain in ergonomics and volume. All the woodwork and finishing has goneupmarket.Available with 3 or 4 cabins, this boat is just as reassuring going around the worldwith the family, as it is exhilarating when racing around the cans with friends. With this makeover, the 51 is more than ever in harmony with Outremer’s DNA.

SAONA 47Between the New 45 which we will discover in 2019 and the excellent Saba 50, Foun-taine Pajot has succeeded in the master stroke of positioning a 47-foot boat whichhas an enormous number of selling points to put forward.Presented in World Premiere at La Grande Motte last year, the Saona shows reallyattractive potential and above all, a platform with undeniable qualities for oceancruising. And its interior is a call to live aboard, whilst the ergonomics of the steering positionare really successful… To see from 24th to 28th of April!
