Lab Logistics
• Drop in session
• Bring Laptops (if possible)
• Room – Mahanakorn Lab (MSc Lab)– Level 9 – turn right out on elevator then to end of
corridor
• Times– Wednesday 14:00-15:30– Thursday 14:00-15:30

Software Installation
• Rooms with software– 4th Years – Level 5 lab– MSc Students – Level 4 lab / Mahanakorn Lab
• What you need to install1) Java Runtime Environment
(http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html)
2) Electric – Design Software
3) WinSpice – Windows version of spice simulator
4) Cygwin, TCL/Tk, Irsim – Simulation (Lab 2 onwards)

Electric Installation
• Link: http://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/electric/
• File: electric-8.04.1.jar
• Save to Location: c:\Electric
• Run using Java Runtime Environment
• Notes: Make sure any file names or folder names you use do not contain spaces

WinSpice
• Link: http://www.ousetech.co.uk/winspice2
• File: WinSpice1.05.01.exe
• Install
• Unzip latest WinSpice from website (File: WinSpice1.05.08) to Installation directions (e.g. C:\Program Files\OuseTech\WinSpice)

Cygwin Etc…
1) Remove any previous cygwin installations 2) Install latest cygwin with X11
(http://www.cygwin.com/setup.exe)3) Extract Tcl/Tk to cygwin directory c:\cygwin
(http://bach.ece.jhu.edu/%7Etim/programs/cygwin/archive/tcltk_x11.zip)
4) Extract Irsim to same directory (http://bach.ece.jhu.edu/%7Etim/programs/cygwin/archive/irsim_tcl.zip)
5) Restart computer before running cygwin
