The assembled throng heardfrom Freda McSwane. a localattorney who earned her bache­lor's degree from ENMU­Ruidoso and an eventual lawdegree from Texas TechUmveraity in Lubbock.

McSwane was a non-tradi­tional student. as are manywho take classes at ENMU­Ruidoso, and said it was a chal­lenge for het" to quit her job andmove to Portales to live in adorm and finish her degree onthe main campus.

"1 was a true non·traditionalstudent," McSwane said. .., hadto cori1plete 15 hours in DIJ7 finalsummer before I was able toenter law school at Texas Tech.

The sweet. graSsY. horsey smell of thebarn ,greeted Ben.
