Many shade trees throughllut NewMexico are infested each year by faDwcbwomls. These wooly caterpillars,which feed on leaves, make their unsightlywebs on poplars, cottonwoods, ebns,mulberries, willows, pecans and manyother otnamental and fruit trees.

When the web nests and Cl\terpillars aresmall, remove them from the trees. bycutting a few twigs and leaves. Since thewomlS don't leave tlte web until full­grown, be sure to get the entire web,Destroy the worms by stepping lID them llrby placing them In a garbage can with at;ght-flttlnlllld, Durkln says.
