Fun fact about blood: In the early 19th century, some advertisements claimed that riding the carousel was good for the circulation of blood!!!

Heart pumps oxygenated blood to the body and deoxygenated blood to the lungs

Heart rate is number of heart beats per minute

Measure heart rate at the carotid, radial, or posterior tibial artery

Use two fingers and a watch or a pulse meter

Resting heart rate is the number of beats per minute when you are at complete rest

Maximum heart rate is the highest number of beats the heart can contract in 1 minute

Maximum heart rate is predicted: Boys Maximum heart rate = 226 – Age Girls’ Maximum heart rate = 220- Age
