Dear Prayer Partner & Friend,This week I was invited to the House ofLords at the Houses of Parliament for adiscussion of persecution of Believersworldwide. Chaired by Baroness Caro-line Cox and with input from LordGeorge Carey (both of whom wereguests on our “Principles of Leadership”TV series) it was a very eye opening time.Currently it is estimated that over 250million Christian are being persecutedworldwide. That does not include what,in the West, can be called the“marginilisation” of Believers. This cantake the form of men and women losingtheir jobs for offering to pray for a dis-tressed medical patient or student ormerely wearing a small cross. One manwe heard from, a longtime professional,was fired for refusing to teach two menhow to improve their sex together. CouldSodom and Gomorrah been worse thanwhat is going on today with the sanctionand encouragement or courts and gov-ernmental agencies? I think not!

Prior to coming to faith Don was in thePublic House & restaurant managementbusiness. He promoted charity & fund rais-ing events & managed pop groups & artists.During this period he also held art exhibi-tions selling his work to the public.On leaving the pub management business heformed the company Donian Leisure to seekout opportunities in the leisure industry. Hecarried out research development work withBBC & ITV television companies to identifythe best methods of marketing squash as anational TV sport.Later that year & after raising finance & thebringing together of corporate organizationsto implement the leisure club project Donwas converted/born-again into the Christianfaith, & resigned from the board.The following 4 years he attended LiverpoolBible College & was involved in his localchurch as Youth Leader & Evangelist.In 1997 he was invited to become Chairmanof Bridge FM application bid for a commer-cial radio license for the whole of the North-West of England. the bid was unsuccessful.

Don then approached God TV to pro-vide them with a radio station to com-plement the existing television service. Astudio was constructed but again a li-cense was not granted, not dismayed itwas decided to use the radio studio as acompact TV studio & the popular‘Dream on TV’ was birthed. After work-ing initially on the Dream TV pro-gramme Don was responsible as SeriesProducer for the flagship award winningseries ‘In Depth’ & the ‘Clan Gathering’conferences. During the last 12 monthsDon has produced the ‘Politics Pro-gramme’ for Genesis & Revelation TV;he has also managed the media depart-ment for the ‘The Christian Party.’ When asked to give his main calling &objective he replayed : To promote theGospel through the media with thoughtprovoking, informative, creative & en-tertaining programmes for both Chris-tians & non-Christians.Don is married with one wife & twodaughters & attends an evangelicalchurch in Surrey, England.

The story of the Christian church in Chi-na is the story of a continuous cycle ofopen doors followed by closed doors forthe opportunity for outsiders to help toreach this nation. That is why evangelism,discipleship and leadership training mustgo hand in hand with everything that isbeing done for China.Brother Yun, author of the best sellingbook “The Heavenly Man” shared withus how his mother became a Believerunder Western missionaries. When theyhad to leave their work was only partiallycompleted. His mother then attempted toshare with this young boy how a numberof things were necessary to grow in theChristian life. 1) You needed to receivethe “Holy Dragon” (in Chinese terminol-ogy this would be like saying you neededto receive the Holy Devil. 2) You neededto go to the “soya fields”. (A mis-hearingof another word) 3) You needed to lookfor Mary (another mis-hearing of theword “Samaria”). That is when he real-ised that Brother Yun needed to pray fora Bible so that he could discern for him-self how to grow in the Christian life. Hethen memorised the book of Matthewand preached just that wherever he went.That story is fairly typical. Today there iseven a strong cult that has a female Mes-siah - here to do the work that “Jesusfailed to do”. Many “strong” Christianshave fallen for this teaching.Brother Andrew, author of the best-sell-ing book “God’s Smuggler” and founder

of the ministry “Open Doors” has told usthat the greatest need in China today isdefinitely teaching. Without it the churchthere cannot grow properly.Today in the 21st century we have the great-est moment, almost in all of Chinese history,to reach the 1.3 billion + people there andthe approximately 100 million Christiansliving there. As a ministry we have dedicateda large amount of our time and resources toreach every level of society there - frompolitics to media to the fine arts to the man,woman and child in the streets - literally.Many testimonies and exciting stories wecannot share, due to security.
