one colour at a time to copy over the letters of your spelling words. Watch your rainbow printing appear!

2) Highlighters Galore- print all your spelling words in highlighter, then print over top the highlighter in pencil to watch your words shine through.

3) Salt Printing- pour some table salt onto a large plate. Use your finger to spell each word in the salt. Show your family. Then shake the plate gentility to watch the word disappear.

4) Slap a word- place all your flashcards on the table. Have your family call the word out. Slap the word on the table. See how fast you can get all the words!

5) Print on my back- letter by letter trace your word on the middle of your mom or dads back. Have them guess each letter, then put the sounds together to say your spelling word out loud. Now switch places!

6) Mystery word- lay your flashcards out. Carefully look at where they are. Close your eyes. Have your family flip 2 words over. Open your eyes and guess what words are missing. Now switch places to try and fool your mom or dad!

7) Cover the word- this one is the same as mystery word except instead of flipping the word over place a novel seasonal object on top of 2 words to hide the words. Try fun objects like a small teddy, mini pumpkin, Christmas ornament, valentine’s candy, four leaf clover and so on.

Challenging Your Childs Higher Level Thinking8) Association game- provide your child with a few words that are the

same or different as one of the flashcard. For example if the word is blue: Say these three words are all similar to one of your spelling words- yellow, red and orange. Can you tell me which spelling word is similar? The child says blue because they are all colours.

9) Yell the word –Tell the child that you are going to give them clues to a word. Once they have figured out the word they should flip the card over. Start with harder clues and move to easier clues. Ex: cat- My
