Believe!it!or!not!cricket!is!the!fastest&growing&summer&sport&in&Scotland.!Unlike!the!football!team!the!Scottish!National!Cricket!Team!regularly!qualify!for!the!ICC&Cricket&World&Cup&and!the!advent!of!the!Twenty20!version!of!the!game!has!introduced!the!sport!to!more!people!
than!ever!before.!

Glenrothes&CC,!established!in!1957,!are!the!oldest&sports&club&in&the&town!and!since!I!took!over! as! Chairman! in! 2011;! we’ve!made! a! huge! effort! to! get! the! towns! youngsters!more!
involved!in!the!sport!and!our!club.!

Currently! we! operate! a! selection! of! senior& teams,! 4! x! Saturday,! 2! x! Sunday! and! also!participate!in!a!mixture!of!Twenty20!cup!and!friendly!matches!which!take!place!midweek.!!
Our! 1st! XI! currently! includes! Scotland’s& highest& ever& run& scorer! and!most! capped! player!
Ryan&Watson!plus!former!international!world!cup!wicket!keeper!Alec&Davies.!!
We! started! our! Junior& Section! commonly! known! as!Glenrothes& Gladiators! in! 2011! and! I!hope!you’ve! seen!already! that!we!are!a!welcoming& club!with!a!commitment! to& coaching&youngsters.!I!wanted!to!take!this!opportunity!to!share!some!information!with!you!about!our!

Gladiators&Coaching&!
Our! coaches! have! committed! many& hours! to! attending! primary/secondary& schools!throughout! the! local! area! to! teach! youngsters! how! to! play! cricket.!Gladiators! coaching! is!
primarily!based!around!enjoyment!and!largely!focuses!on!softball!cricket!with!plastic!bats;!otherwise!known!as!KWIK&Cricket.!!
From!April&until&September!we!operate!FREE&Coaching!for!the!Gladiators!at!our!allVweather!practice! facility! at! the! Gilvenbank! Park! from! 6pm! until! 8pm.! We! also! operate! monthly!
indoor!sessions!during!the!winter!months!and!Junior!Cricket!Festivals!plus!matches!against!
youngsters!from!other!local!clubs.!

We're! really! upping& the& stakes! this! year! and! throughout! 2014! the! Gladiators! will! be!managed! by! an! expert! coach!Graeme& Beghin! who! we'll! be! flying! over! from! the!
