SECTION 1

Q.8b - Why do you approve of the way Pierre Trudeau is handling his job as Prime Minister?

UPPER

1 BEST HE CAN/GENERAL" LIKE: he is doing as well as anyone could, works hard does"his best, runs government efficiently, best country in the world and overall not his fault, because of his years of experience should know how to handle the job, he has his good points. Economy improving, brought in the constitution, he's looking after both the old and the young, raising money to help others, represents the people.

2 INTERNATIONAL POSITION: trying to get better relations and trade for us, represents country well internationally, is a good leader for foreign policies.

3 INTELLIGEN1/FORTHRIGHT/AHEAD OF HIS TIME: being the man he ishe is running the government the way he wants, he's capable, he seems to have interest doesn't need the job, moving quicker than the country can accept, he is a very intelligent man, he's not afraid to speak up for what he believes in, very good states man, he has the guts to think of the whble·and not ju~t individual areas.

4 QUALIFIED: has done a good job but might"be time for a change, considering world problems not his fault, he is trying but what can he do alone, 50% alot of good things.

SECTION I

Q.8b - Why do you disapprove of the way Pierre Trudeau is handling his job as Prime Minister?

UPPER

1 DOESN'T CARE ABOUT CANADA/ABOUT ORDINARY CANADIANS: his decisions don't seem to be in Canada's best interest, unaware of problems of the rest of the country - lives ina fools paradise. the way he is personally, flippant attitude, arrogant andse1f-seeking~ incertain things he runs a dictation, he isn!t concerned about Canadian problems, his attitude is one of not caring - just wanting to retire, he's not interested in work, I don't think-he cares about the 'people - he's out for #1, lost touch with the common people, he's completely incompetent, he's become only self-serving, he's been there too long.

2 INTERNAL/CANADIAN POLICIES: not enough free enterprise, should be increasing exports, wreckless s pendinqv-l ack of long term policies, far too communistic, too socla1istic, too many domestic problems, travels about too much, not helping' the economy at all to improve, doesn't manage our gross national product, not enough emphasis on unemployment, too many give aways , the way everything is going, he is too free with our money:

3 PRO-FRENCH: he's pushing French far too much, too heavy an emphasis on making this a bilingual country.

4 INTERNATIONAL PRE-OCCUPATION: he tends to the 3rd world policy more than home policy, in the past he was good but now he is too concerned with his world image.

5 GENERAL: people don 'tbe1ieve in him anymore, lost confidence of the people, just don't like him, acts like a clown, he's a liar - he promises and doesn't deliver, he's not what I expect from a leader, he's ripping us off, can't put it into words even after probing.
