The following graphs are results of the Iowa Test of Basic Skills and Iowa Tests of Educational

Development and are now called the Iowa Assessments. As you can see, the student results since 2006

stand well above area and state averages. This is a testament to our students and staff through the years,

as well as the commitment of our parents to education.

IMMUNIZATION UPDATES NEEDED BEFORE RETURNING TO

SCHOOL IN FALL 2013 FOR 7th

-12th

graders.

Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap) Vaccine Secondary School Requirement The Iowa Department of Public Health, Bureau of Immunization, has completed the administrative rules

process to require tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine for students enrolling in 7th grade. The

administrative rule change was effective January 16, 2013 and will be implemented at the beginning of the

upcoming 2013-2014 school year. The change will require a one-time booster dose of tetanus, diphtheria,

and acellular pertussis-containing vaccine for applicants in grades 7 and above, if born on or after

September 15, 2000; regardless of the interval since the last tetanus/diphtheria containing vaccine.

The school will need a new copy of this information before your child returns to school in the fall. Please

send the information to your child’s building that they attend or see me at school registration for any ques-

tions or concerns regarding the new requirement. Please visit http://www.siouxcountychp.org/Immunization-

Program-and-Clinic-Schedule/Immunization-Schedule-January-June-2013 on Community Health Partners

clinics that are being offered now through June. If your child has already fulfilled this requirement please

send me a new hard copy of the information. If you do not have a hard copy, but have fulfilled the require-

ment, please let me know so I can print a copy from our statewide immunization software. Thank you for

your time in this matter.
