This is not a trophy brochure, or a sales catalogue. It is more a display of only the most significant merchandise and gift items that Mohtaraf has designed and produced over the years, mainly showing how our company thinks. Although some of these items are received by guests at events and then forgotten about, others are treasured and proudly displayed. Many are even considered as works of art.What is particularly interesting is how they symbolise the spirit of the event or the occasion that they mark, and how they are perceived as an attractive and inspiring object.

عندما ُصمم شعار أدبي الرياض كانت الفكرة الخروج بتصميم يعكس روح العصر وفنونه لما يمثله ة معاصرة. فجاءت المنحوتة ة فكريَّ النادي من حيويَّه، وخرجت كعمل تكعيبي مضاعفة لنفس التوجُّيصلح لنصب عام.

The Literary Club of Riyadh city is widely known as Adabi Arriyadh. Adabi was designed in a modern art style to reflect the avant garde trend of literary circles. When the gift was produced it was nothing less than a cubic art sculpture.

عكاظ.. يقول شعرا

Okaz,, says poetry

مكّعب معدني صلب عليه شعار المهرجان، ُحفر من األمام حفرًا عميقًا، وتمتلئ جوانبه بنقوش من حروف خط عكاظ الذي أستوحي من أسلوب كتابة اسم المهرجان نفسه. ويعلو مرتفعًا من أحد جوانب ج عليه أبيات شعر من مختلف المكعب شريط متموِّقات المعروفة محاكاة لما يروى أنها كانت تعلق المعلَّعلى جوانب الكعبة المشرفة في ذلك الزمن.

The merchandise for the Poet of the Year in the poetry festival at Sooq Okaz derives its elements from the exquisite logo and the poetic wave that echoes lines of verse resonating in this land of poetry. In ancient history the poem of the year was called “Mu’allaqua” meaning “hanging”, because it was believed to be hung on the wall of the Qa’ba, in pre-islamic eras. The cube is made of engraved steel with a wave-like tail emanating from one side, and is intended to symbolically reinterpret ancient practices.

تحاول هذه المنحوتة الخشبّية أن تمسك بلحظة الحيرة عند إدراك احتمال فقدان الذاكرة، وكأن صاحبها على مفترق طرق. ُصّمم هذا العمل بمناسبة المؤتمر االّول للزهايمر في الرياض. وقد صّنع بثالثة احجام من مواد مختلفة، حملت جميعها عبارة » أال ننسى األمل«

Caught at the crossroads between hope and despair, this sculptural piece attempts to reflect an Alzheimer’s patient’s confusion at the realization of his or her memory loss. Three different sizes constructed from different materials were made for a conference organized by the Alzheimer’s Society. The trophies carried the tag line: «not to forget hope»!

Beirut.. stands!

تصميم اسم المدينة الذي ينتصب اآلن كمعلم في منطقة سوليدير، طلبته شركة U.C.A ليكون كمجسم ة السنة الجديدة. صغير هديَّومعه يقول المصمم كميل حّوا: أرى بيروت.. أرى في المجسم المصغر للتصميم اسم المدينة.. بيروت.. وليس أي مدينة أخرى. وهو تصميم ينتمي إلى ما عرف في السنوات األخيرة بفن الكلمة.

The Name of Beirut, as a neo kufic typographic design, stands now as a 6-meter monument in downtown Solidaire. UCA insurance company ordered a miniature replica as a New Year’s gift. The designer writes: I see Beirut in this miniature. Replica of its name I only see Beirut itself and no other city. As a design it belongs to what has become known lately as word art.

حضارة التمر.. في علبةطٰورت الصيغة األولى من هذه الهدية لضيوف مؤتمر قّمة أوبك. وحيث لم يكن من الالئق ان تكون الهدّية مجّرد تمور مهما كانت جودتها، تم تحويل العلبة إلى رحلة معرفّية مع عالم التمر. في العلبة خانات تضم بعض أجود أصناف التمر معّربة و موّزعة كل حبة في خانة. وعلى الغطاء صورالتمور، وأسماءها. صمم كتّيب كّرس فيه لكل صنف صفحة تنص اسم التمر وموسمه، وموطنه، وخصائصه بلغتين. ومع الكتّيب خارطة، فتحّولت العلبة إلى ثقافة تمر كاملة. واستمر تطوير هذه الهدّية فأضفنا إليها كتّيبًا عن النخلة في حضارة البالد ومكانتها في فنون العمارة.

The concept of a box of dates was developed to reflect the culture of dates. A special booklet and map were included in the box stating the name of the particular date, its characteristics, its place in the hierarchy of dates, and in which region it is grown.So within the small box of dates, the customer had a true understanding of the essence of Saudi Arabian dates.

The center,, stands up for the book

بمناسبة اليوم العالمي للكتاب تم تصميم ساند للكتب مستوحى من شكل المبنى األساسي لمركز الملك عبدالعزيز الثقافي العالمي. وتحّديا لرواج فكرة أن الكتاب على أفول، خاصة في صيغته الورقية، وضعت على الهدية التذكارية عبارة: “ساند كتبك”!

To mark World Book Day, we designed a book stand which was inspired by the shape of the main building of the King Abdulaziz Center for Word Culture. In this era where many people are prophesizing the disappearance of the book, the slogan “stand for your books” has a double meaning.

الِفكر.. سؤال!

A question,, for thought!

هذه المنحوتة هي تجريد لكلمة فكر، تم تطويرها من عدة سنين لمؤتمر مؤسسة الفكر العربي: يمر االختزال عبر مراحل.. الكاف تمتّد إلى الخلف أشبه بيٍد تحتضن وزن الرأس، كما يفعل أيٌّ مّنا حين ُتثقل ِذهنه األفكار. والثقل تجّسده نقطة الفاء بحجمها وشكلها وكأّنها صخرة تجثو. ثم تّتصل الكاف بحرف الراء ليكتمل التجريد ويتحّول الشكل بُمجمله إلى عالمة استفهام.. فما الفكر إاّل سؤال.. والسؤال يكاد يختزل إلى حّد بعيٍد منهج النهضة في العصر الحديث. ال بل كّل مسعى فكرّي لإلنسان منذ الخليقة أن ُيجيب عن سؤال. والمنحوتة مصنوعة من خشب شجر الزان المتين والنبيل، احترامًا وإجالاًل للفكر.

Fikr is the Arabic word for thought. This trophy is an artistic, semi-abstract interpretation of the word. The shape resembles a head leaning on a fist in a thoughtful pose. The dot of the letter ‹fa› is heavy. It embodies the weight of thinking. The overall shape however is turned into a question mark, and a tag line explains: «What is thought but a question?» This design has been the trophy of the annual conference of the Arab Thought Foundation for many years.

م أرادت إدارة مركز األمير سلمان ألبحاث اإلعاقة أن تقدِّعين لتأسيس المركز. ة شكر إلى المساهمين المتبرِّ هديَّفُصمم هذا الشكل األشبه بالمسلة، التي تحمل شعار عين للداللة المركز المكعب، وعليها جميع أسماء المتبرِّعلى دورهم في حمل المركز.

A trophy of gratitude was designed for the contributors and board members of the Prince Salman Center for Research on Disability. The center’s logo is a square of calligraphic composition. So the trophy was designed in such a way that the logo was turned into a four sided cube, where the cube is symbolically held by a pole. On the pole are carved the names of all contributors who bore the expense of establishing the center.

القافلة.. رحلة الخمسين

50 Years of Alqaflah

بمناسبة االحتفال بالعيد الخمسين لمجلة القافلة ة، التي تصدرها شركة أرامكو، اعتمد المحترف الثقافيَّتصميم فني يوحي بصفحات متتالية تطوى، استخدمت من خالله مواد مختلفة اعتبرها الناس أعمااًل فنّية بكل ما تحمله الكلمة من معنى. فهو جدير باإلعجاب ويستحق الحفظ.

Commemorating 50 years of the Alqafilah magazine was a very special occasion. Alqafilah has been a widely recognized source of knowledge in Saudi society for many years. A variety of trophies were designed in various materials such as crystal, brass and wood, not to mention a very special golden edition of the magazine.

ة بكل تأكيد. .. بال جدال، فنٌّ للفنِّ هذه المرَّ فنٌّ ألجل الفنِّة لكلمة فنِّ من تصميم ة تيبوغرافيَّ ثماني قراءات فنيَّة لهذه المجموعة كانت ا. األعمال النحتيَّ الرسام كميل حوَّقد احتلت بركة سمير قصير العام الماضي خالل أسبوع ي. وقد شّكل انعكاسها على البركة مشهدًا بيروت الفنِّرت خصيصًا بديعًا، واختيرت إحداها للعام الجديد ُطوِّلشركة التأمين “اليو سي ايه”

Fann is the Arabic word for art. Eight different typographic interpretations of the word Fann were designed by the artist Kameel Hawa. They were displayed as sculptural work on the surface of the Samir Kassir pool during Beirut Art week 2014. UCA has chosen one of the set as this year’s souvenir.

االستدامة مع البيئة

Sustainable & environmental

ة التنمية المستدامة أرادت أن تكون هديتها جمعيَّة متوائمة مع البيئة: حجر طبيعي، كما هو التذكاريَّل مع قطعتين معدنيتين ـ موجود في الحقول، تحوَّة. وال شكَّ ة ـ إلى هذه الهديَّ مأخوذتين من شعار الجمعيَّأنَّ البساطة نفسها فيها صلة بروح االستدامة.

This was a trophy for a company dedicated to sustainable development. We needed to create something that was not harmful to the environment and that reflected genuine sustainability, whilst remaining creative. We decided on a stone picked from the bare lands, using two strips of metal derived from the society logo.

A prize to Makkah..

مة( ة المكرَّ من حول المكعب األسود )رمز الكعبة ومكَّز إلى آفاق المستقبل. هذا ما ينطلق شعار جائزة التميُّتجده بدرع الجائزة المطلي بالذهب حامال اسم الفائز بأحد فروع الجائزة الثمانية.

Jae’za is the Arabic word for prize. The logo for the Makkah prize was based on the letter jeem; a swirling line from the square dot. But the letter became a minor issue in relation to the message. The line emanates vigorously, flying high to express outstanding performance and excellence. The point of departure (the square dot) is turned into a.black cube reminiscent of Al-qa’ba

تصميم مستوحى من رسم يمامتين على الشريط. وهذا اإلبريق الذي ُصنع من النحاس المصبوب في قالب، ال يكتفي بوضع الرسم على جنبه بشكل نافر، لكن تكوينه برمته هو تجسيد لخطوط اليمامة. ويبدو هذا واضحًا في شكل فتحة عنق اإلبريق كما في المقبض الخشبي. بالطبع، وبسبب وزنه بالدرجة ما هو األولى فإنَّ هذا اإلبريق ليس لالستخدام، وإنَّي أو منحوتة للعرض في الصالة م فنِّ أقرب لمجسَّوربما ُتوضع فيه أنواع من الزهور تجاري هيبته.

Inspired by a sketch of two pigeons on a wire, this jar design was produced in cast brass. It depicts two birds in relief on the side and its whole shape and structure portrays the lines of a pigeon. This is clearly evident in the opening of the neck of the jar, as well as in the wooden handle. This jar, with a weight that means it is only likely to be used as a decorative art piece, is quite a majestic piece.

مت بالذهب ة مصنوعة من الفضة طعِّ درع تكريميَّة إلى الملك عبد الله بن عبد العزيز ـ يرحمه الله ـ هديَّمن البنك اإلسالمي للتنمية، تقديرًا لرعاية المملكة ف شكل ة لمسيرة البنك. وقد وظِّ ة السعوديَّ العربيَّة في مقرِّ البنك هندسي مأخوذ من الهندسة المعماريَّة ودمجها مع انحناءات بارزة تعكس في مدينة جدَّأصالة السيف وعطاء النخلة. وطغا اللونان األسود والذهبي على التصميم رامزًا أللوان الكعبة الشريفة.

The International Islamic Development Bank wished to present an honorary gift to Saudi King Abdullah for the continuos support the Bank received during the rule of King Faisal. The gift was designed using classical Saudi symbols and colors, and inspiration was drawn from an ornament found in the Bank’s head office.

تولى »المحترف« مهام التصميم الحتفال تدشين مصفاة »ياسرف« برعاية الملك سلمان، وحضور ة الصين، وتلقى رؤساء تحرير الصحف رئيس جمهوريَّة، عبارة عن صحن أبيض من ة تذكاريَّ المشاركون هديَّالخزف الصيني عليه نصان فريدان: اسم الملك سلمان ة. باللغة الماندارينية، واسم الرئيس الصيني باللغة العربيَّويترافق االسمان من األعلى إلى األسفل تماشيًا مع ة. الكتابة الصينيَّ

As the inauguration of the Yasrif refinery was drawing to a close, press editors attending the event were given an interesting souvenir gift, a white ceramic plate. The names of the two dignitaries attending the event as patrons were printed in calligraphy using silkscreen: King Salman in Mandarin, and the name of the Chinese president in Arabic.

ة تولى »المحترف« تصميم شعار ودرع احتفال القنصليَّة. التصميم ة بذكرى تأسيسها الـ١٧٥ في جدَّ الفرنسيَّحرف فرنسي عريق لكاتبة الرقم ١٧٥، وهو عدد كبير ال يتوقعه الناس. وجاء استخدام طابع البريد مناسبًا لتلك الحقبة التي لعب فيها دورًا رئيسًا في تسجيل ة. كما أضاف ة المهمَّ المناسبات واألحداث التاريخيَّاستخدام صورة مرسومة باألبيض واألسود مسحة ل ة إلى التصميم وبخاصة أنَّ الرسم يمثل أوَّ رومانسيَّة. ة في جدَّ مبنى للقنصليَّ

The souvenir gift for the 175th anniversary of the French consulate in Jeddah used a traditional French typeface and stamp frame to accentuate the historical nature of the event, with an etching of Jeddah in the background, all superimposed with the «bleu, blanc, rouge» of the French flag.

سجادة من الحرير الخالص محاكة يدويًا.. صممت خصيصًا احتفاًء بالذكرى الخمسين لتعاون مجموعة باناجة وشركة لدرلي، إحدى أبرز األسماء في دنيا صناعة األدوية عالمّيًا. الزخارف واأللوان مستوحاة من شعار الشركة ٥xادة صّفا النجوم ١٠ المضيفة وألوانها. وفي بركة السجَّها شموع العيد على قالب الحلوى. تساوي ٥٠، وكأنَّ

This handwoven, pure silk carpet was especially designed to mark the 50th anniversary of the partnership between the Banaja pharmaceutical group and the international distinguished name in the field, Lederle. For the design we drew inspiration from the two company logos and color schemes and the oriental ornament of Arabia. Within the carpet the 5x10 rows of stars add up to 50, the number of years that were being celebrated.

هذا التقويم الفريد، الذي صمم بمناسبة ذكرى مرور نصف قرن على تعاون شركة باناجة مع شركة روش السويسرّية، يلقي الضوء من خالل لوحاته الست المعّرفة والموّثقة، التي اقتنيت من متاحف مختلفة، على دور العلماء العرب والمسلمين في تأسيس الصيدلة والطب. و أبلغ ما قالوه ما جعله أشبه بمرجع صغير ُيقتنى.

This desk calendar, especially designed to commemorate 50 years of collaboration between the Banaja group and the distinguished Swiss firm Roche, highlights the role of Arab and Moslem scientists in the advance of pharmaceutical discipline. Its six pages display copies of original paintings acquired from museums, and some of the most telling examples of genius in both innovation and wisdom. All those features made the calendar a valuable reference to be treasured forever.

تدشين ملكي..

A royal inauguration..

تم تصميم النصب التذكاري الفتتاح مصفاة ياسرف العمالقة خالل عمل متواصل استمر طوال الليل وذلك على يد المصمم السعودي فهد قثامي. ولضيق الوقت تم تصنيع نسخة مؤقتة في جدة خالل ليلة ثانية ونقلت الى ينبع لتكون متأهبة للحظة االفتتاح في اليوم التالي الذي تم على شرف الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز وضيفه رئيس جمهورية الصين الشعبية. ورغم احتواء التصميم على أنابيب تشبه األنابيب التي تنتشر في المصفاة، إال أن المصمم صاغها لتعطي احساسًا جماليًا إضافة إلى شيء من الفخامة.

The inauguration monument for the new Yasrif refinery was designed by Saudi artist and designer Fahd Quthamy and was very well received. A model of the monument was manufactured at short notice and transported from Jeddah to Yanbu for the inauguration by King Salman and the President of China. The actual monument will be in place shortly.
