General SessionsSame-Day ACH Implementation Moderator: Wendy Wishon, AAP, NCP, EPCOR; Panelists: Brian Guess, AAP, KeyBank; Susan Morris, Pulaski Bank The September 2016 implementation for Phase I of Same-Day ACH will impact all aspects of FI ACH operations and client offerings. Understanding Same-Day ACH and preparing your institutions and customers will be critical to implementation and compliance over the next several months. This panel discussion includes implications of both sending and receiving Same-Day ACH transactions; managing daily multiple ACH settlements; educating staff and customers; and planning an implementation strategy. Hear what various size organizations consider are some of the most important aspects of implementing Same-Day ACH.

The task force includes a diverse set of payment stakeholders, including security leaders and experts who are exploring areas of focus and priorities for future action to achieve this goal. Ms. Pacheco will provide a progress report on task force activities, which include working with the Federal Reserve’s Faster Payments Task Force to identify alternatives that are both fast and secure.

EMV – Stakeholder Perspectives on the U.S. Adoption Moderator: Gary Yamamura, Edept, LLC. Panelists: Hap Huynh, VISA; Kevin Christensen, SHAZAM; Steve Cole, Vantiv; Dennis Wegner, UMB The U.S. has begun its migration to the computer chip-based card technology known throughout the world as “EMV.” The key facilitators of the payments industry, the card networks, merchant processors, payment gateways, debit networks, ATM operators and merchants are separately evaluating the cost, timing and technology required to facilitate that migration. This panel session features several industry stakeholders that will discuss the impacts of EMV on their organization, providing an opportunity for the audience to hear and understand the benefits, costs, impacts and challenges of EMV from their very diverse perspectives.

Don’t miss this Two-hour EMV Workshop! The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the EMV GalaxyGary Yamamura, Edept, LLC Originally developed in 1994, the EMV specifications have become the worldwide standard for secure, computer chip-based credit and debit cards and payment terminals and, as of early 2013, are used by over 2.3 billion bankcards throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Asia Pacific region, Canada and Latin America. The United States has, to date, been noticeably absent from this list, choosing instead to rely on the five decade old magnetic strip technology. For issuers and merchants in the U.S., the status quo will change dramatically over the next few months and years as adoption of EMV finally occurs. This workshop will provide a high level view of the issuers’ and merchants’ business cases for EMV, the pros and cons of, as well as the alternatives for adoption, and the technology and business options that must be considered once the decision to implement EMV has been made. Also included in the workshop will be explanations on the linkage between EMV, tokenization, and contactless payments via card and mobile devices. Attendees should obtain an understanding of the major card networks’ plans for conversion of the U.S. payment systems infrastructure to EMV and a checklist of the key considerations and steps needed to choose and ultimately implement EMV card issuance or acceptance capability.

Gary started from square one, instead of assuming that everyone knew all about EMV.
