GEN 3.2 AERONAUTICAL CHARTS

3.2.1 Responsible service

The NAV Portugal, E.P.E. has a range of aeronautical charts available for use by all types of civil aviation. The NAV Portugal, E.P.E. produces the charts listed in GEN 3.2 para 3.2.5. Other charts, suitable for pre-flight planning and briefing, selected from those listed in the ICAO Aeronautical Chart Catalogue (DOC 7101-MAP/562), are available for reference at aerodrome AIS units.

3.2.2 Maintenance of charts

Amendments and revision

The aeronautical charts included in the AIP are regularly kept up-to-date or are replaced by the amendments to the AIP. Significant amendments or revisions in aeronautical information to other aeronautical chart series are also included in the AIP and may be promulgated in AIP Supplements, if appropriate. Information concerning new maps and charts will be notified by Aeronautical Information Circular or AIP Supplements as appropriate.

Items of information found after publication to have been incorrect at the aeronautical information date, are immediately corrected by NOTAM if they are of operational significance, attention being directed to the particular chart affected.

Revision of the aeronautical information on all charts is constantly in progress and amended reprints are published as regularly as production resources permit. Topographical and hydro graphical information portrayed is also revised when necessary.

3.2.4.2 General description of each series

NAVIGATION CHART - ICAO - at 1:1.000.000

These charts constitute the contribution made by Portugal to the World Aeronautical Chart - ICAO 1:1.000.000 series. Designed for pre-flight planning as well as pilotage, these charts are constructed on Lambert Conical Orthomorphic Projection.

NOTE: Not available at the moment.

INSTRUMENT APPROACH AND LANDING CHART - ICAO

Instrument Approach and Landing Charts conforming to the specifications of Annex 4 are available for all aerodromes open to international civil aviation where instrument approach procedures have been established. Separate charts are available for each procedure established for the aerodrome. These charts are contained in AD 2.24.10 for each aerodrome of the AIP and may be purchased individually.

AERODROME OBSTRUCTION CHARTS - ICAO - TYPE A

Aerodrome Obstruction Charts Type A (Operating Limitations) are available for all aerodromes designated for use by scheduled international air services. These are included in AD 2.24.4 for each aerodrome.

PRECISION APPROACH TERRAIN CHART - ICAO

Precision Approach Terrain Charts, are available for aerodromes with precision approach runways Category II and designated for use by scheduled international air service. These are included in AD 2.24.5 for each aerodrome.

1.2.1 VFR Routes in Lisboa TMA

General Remarks:

Due to traffic complexity in the area surrounding Lisboa Airport, the vicinity of Cascais Aerodrome and the growth of VFR traffic into the SW area subjacent to Lisboa TMA and close to Lisboa CTR, it is of the utmost importance the adjustment of VFR traffic flows in order to avoid the overload of Lisboa Approach Radio frequency.

For the provision of FIS, VFR traffic operating on Visual South Tunnel One “ VS1 “, Visual South Tunnel “ VS “, Visual East Tunnel One “ VE1 “ Visual East Tunnel “ VE2 “ and Visual North Tunnel “ VN “, shall:

1. Submit a FPL (in person, by fax or telephone) or AFIL.

2. Report entering and exiting the Tunnel and maintain continuous monitoring on Lisboa Approach frequency.

3. Be equipped and maintain in operation SSR Transponder with mode C.

4. Set always the altimeter with Lisboa updated QNH

NOTE: Tunnel - Route structure (corridor) for VFR traffic, defined longitudinally by a central axis extending laterally 1.5NM and vertically limited by a specified altitude.

Due to traffic complexity in Porto Airport, the vicinity of Vilar de Luz Aerodrome and the growth of VFR traffic into the North-Northeast area adjacent to Porto CTR and subjacent to Porto TMA, it is of the utmost importance the adjustment of VFR traffic flows in order to avoid the overload of Porto Approach radio frequency.

To accomplish with the stated above, two-way routes named respectively Esposende Tunnel (visual REPs:Zende-Belos), Barcelos Tunnel (visual REPs; Belos-Famal), Rates Tunnel (visual REPs: Zende-Gondi-Famal), Crestuma Tunnel (visual Reps: Famal-Alfen-Crest) and Barca Tunnel (visual REPs: Alfen-Jumbo-Botik) are brought into service with the observation of the following compulsory rules.

For the provision of FIS, VFR traffic operating on:

a. Esposende Tunnel, Barcelos Tunnel and Crestuma Tunnel shall:

1. Submit a FPL (in person, by fax or telephone) or AFIL.

2. Report entering and exiting the tunnels and maintain continuous monitoring on Porto Approach frequency.

3. Be equipped and maintain in operation SSR transponder with mode C.

4. Set always the altimeter with Porto updated QNH

b. Rates Tunnel:

1. Obtain prior permission from Porto ATC to proceed on this route, and

2. Comply with points 1, 2, 3 and 4 of a. above.

c. Barca Tunnel (Emergency):

1. This Tunnel is only available to aircraft under radio communication failure circumstances, and that are unable to divert to any other Aerodrome

d. Reporting points (REPs) ZENDE, BELOS, FAMAL, ALFEN, and CREST are compulsory REPs for those VFR flights intending to enter or cross Porto CTR.
