What I Will Do For YouAbout MaryAnnMaryAnn holds a degree in mathematicsand mathematical statistics from SydneyUniversity, and a Master of Sciencedegree from Oxford University. She is aqualified highschool teacher and hasworked in investment banking, financialmarkets education and at the Institute ofChartered Accountants. MaryAnn grewup in Castlecrag and now lives with herhusband & young family in Neutral Bay.

A Strong Voice For North SydneyMaryAnn is currently a Councillor on North Sydney Counciland was recently the Deputy Mayor. She is Chair of NorthSydney Council's Sport and Recreation Reference Group.MaryAnn is already a strong, independent voice for the NorthSydney LGA and is excited at the prospect of representingthe federal seat of North Sydney in a similar way.

The Accidental PoliticanMaryAnn ran for Council to change the then policy on schoolswimming carnivals at North Sydney Olympic Pool  a policywhich prevented local schools from using their local pool fortheir swimming carnivals. It became evident that the only wayto change the policy was to become a policy maker. Uponbeing elected to Council in September 2012, MaryAnnquickly developed strong and effective working relationshipswith her fellow Councillors and the policy was amended so asto allow schools to once again hold their swimming carnivalsat the iconic and muchloved North Sydney Pool. A fantasticresult for the children and families in our community.

A Commitment To DemocracyMaryAnn is wholeheartedly committed to democracy in allforms. She is dismayed & angered at the current LiberalState Government's plans to forcibly merge local councils forpurely political reasons without seeking a mandate from thecommunity to do so & against the wishes of local residents.
