The Interact Club at NSJH has been growing consistently over the past few years. We started out with 10 members at the beginning of the school year and have doubled that number for the second quarter. You will meet them at the Nov. 8 meeting. So far this year, the club has raised money through a Hat Day at school to fund treat bags for the residents at Grand Haven Retire- ment Community. The students will be there on Nov. 13 to hand out the bags and play bingo. The club also is raising funds through sales of candy bars to fund a project for God’s Mercy Orphanage Centre in Uganda. You may remember last year the Interact Club raised funds to buy a television for the orphanage and school for the children to view educational videos. This year, the club is looking to buy sports equipment and school supplies. Director Robbinah Hakizayran also said she would like to get uniform T-shirts with the school’s logo on them to help build pride in the children for their school. In addition, the students participate in leadership activities led by Mrs. Ann Green from Iowa State Extension. The activities help build teamwork and communication skills. Eugene Kreiter is the faculty sponsor and Jan Touney is the North Scott Rotary representative. The club meets on Fridays from 7:50-8:15 a.m. Yes, it’s just a short meeting, but we get a lot done! LAST MEETING - November 1, 2019 – 3 Star Vice Admiral Joseph A. Sestak: Candidate for Democratic Presidential Candidate

Seventy-five attended on Friday, including Milan Rotarian, Michael Haney. Other guests were: Rick Engler guest of Tom Messer, Sara Diericx guest of Brian Williams, Kyle Pruett guest of John Maxwell, Lucas Dengler guest of Josie Seymour, Allen Nylin guest of Dennis Peterson and Edward and Mary Sarah Matonu, guests of Merle Anderson. Dwayne Anderson was inducted as the newest member of North Scott Rotary, by past president Jeff Ashcraft. He resides in Lynn Center, IL and is a Real Estate Broker and Certified Land Consultant with Ruhl Commercial Company in Davenport. More information about Dwayne will appear on the front page when I get a current picture of him. November birthdays were celebrated. Jim Smith was the winner of $144 in the 50/50 drawing. Na-than Kessler was the sergeant and collected $55 in fines. John Maxwell sold 6 goodies for $620.00.

Admiral Joe Sestak was the highest-ranking military officer ever elected to Congress as of 2006. He was the Director for Defense Policy for President Bill Clinton. He was also the first director of the Navy’s anti-terror unit after 9/11. Part of his plan, if elected, is to provide high quality affordable healthcare for all and give our children a 21st century education. Earlier in the campaign, Joe spent 3 weeks in the Ecolodge in Des Moines, meeting the people of the Des Moines area. He has walked across the state of New Hampshire talking to various groups of voters, in-cluding the coal miners. Joe’s daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor at a very young age. After he re-tired from the Navy and multiple trips to area hospitals, she was cured.

The 4 Way Test Of the things we THINK SAY or DO

1. Is it the TRUTH?

2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3. Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
