Dear <FirstName>

I am writing today as a [mom/dad] of a child with a very complex and obscure disease: tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). A disease that creates tumors among vital organs, like the heart, brain, lungs, kidneys and liver.

A disease that holds an incredible amount of promise for major breakthroughs in cancer, epilepsy and even autism. The back page of this pamphlet provides a bit more detail on how important TSC is to so many scientific breakthroughs.

The reason TSC has recently been discovered to be such a lynchpin disease—even though it affects only 50,000 people in our country—is because a group of committed moms and dads, brothers and sisters, and friends and neighbors kept fighting until the world began to notice.

Ours is a true American grassroots success story. We formed our own organization, the TS Alliance. We lobby congress. We spend countless hours working with doctors and scientists to make sure TSC is on their radar screen. We help educators know how to work with our children. We take care of each other.

We also raise all our own money. One parent, one donor, one handshake at a time.

The biggest tool we have to raise the funds is our community walkathon, Step Forward to Cure TSC, and that is why I am writing. To ask for nothing more than a bit of help by [running some of our PSA Radio Spots/TV Spots/Print Ads/Banner Ads] [placing some of our posters and flyers in your facility] and, whenever possible, talking about our Step Forward to Cure TSC walkathon here in <CItyName> on <Date>!

As you can see on the following pages, we can provide as many different tools as you can help us with, in whatever format you need. I’d also be happy to chat at your convenience to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you so much for your consideration of my request,
