1" FIELD TEST

Field test of ts. T. Cotton seed cum fertilizer planter was conducted at HLRDCHisar for 20.59 hours., consisting of 5 trials. The implement was used for sowing B. T. Cottonseed of BG-II (5488) variety in field. The detailed test results are given in Annexure-IV and aresummarised as under:-

7"7 Quality of work:Seed to seed distance during field test was observed from 35.1 to 44.8 cms against the

theoretical distance of 40.6 cms. The percentage variation in seed to seed distance fromminimum and maximum against the theorctical was observed fiom -13.5 to I i0.3 . Missing ofseed dropping was observed Nil.

The average depth of seed and fertilizer placement was observed as 8.4 to 9.4cm. Seedfertilizer rate was found 2.30 to 3.59 Kg,4ra and 110.1 to 124.8 Kgftra. respectively.

Rate of Work & Fuel consumption :The average width of sowing was observed as 2.77 to 2.90 m" The area covered is 0.80to 1.04 halh and the fuel consumption varied from I .25 to 1.70 Llh.

7.3 Field efficiency and labour requirement:Fieid efficiency of Planterwas observed as 73.4 to 87.9o/o. Two iabours are required

to operatc the planter" One skilled labour to make adjustments i ealibration of the planter andoperate the tractor and other unskilled to load the seed and fertilizer boxes and eleaning offurrow openers as and when required

7"4 Wear of soil engaging component:

The wear of f,urrow openers varied from 0.25 to 0.46 oZ by mass basis which is normal.

LUBRICATION & SERVICING

Greasing was done daily before starting the operation.

EASB OF OPERATION AND,ADJUSTMENT

Operator has to get down from the tractor to make adjustments on planter.

BRE.AKDOWN AND REPAIRSNo critical or major breakdown was observed during 20.59 hrs. of field operation ofeotton planter"
