I first met Jen as a colleaguewhen I became the Professional Development Curriculum Coordinator for Northwest Regional Learning Consortium which covers all of Zone One in northem Alberta. This role put me in a position where I would come into regular contact with other PD leaders from nine school districts. From the very first month I was on the job, I found Jen to be an excellent sourceof support, inspiration, professionalleadership, and practical on-the-job "get it done" style. We have developeda close working relationship that has continued for the past six years. In this time my respect and admiration for all that Jen knows and doeshas grown even more - she is a fabulous educator, an incredible collaborator, and a leader among educators in our zone. Leadership: Jen willingly providesleadership on a wide rangeof topics. Sheis a skilled facilitator in technology and curriculum (Moodle, SMART, Social Studies,et al) and workshop participantsgive her rave reviews. Thesepositive ratings are not only for the well planned and delivered content and her interactive style which sees teachers as active participantsin their own learning, but for her style - she makesparticipantsfeel very successful with her low-key encouraging nature and gentle sense of humor. Jen can laugh at herself and can get othersto seethe humor in their day too. Jen has also led a cohort ofsocial studiesteachers for the past four years.Thesejunior high teachers have worked with the program of studies to plan lessons and assessment tasks for their classrooms. They receivedweekly updates, as well as regular contact with Jen and the rest of the cohort. The group has really gelled by having her connectthem via technology! As well she is a certified SMART trainer for PWSD and once againprovides the glue that keepsthe group moving forward. Email questions are answered at all hours of the day and evening as Jen keepsin regular contact with many of her cohort groups and other colleagues that shehas connected with at various sessions, schoolsand meetings. Mentorship: Jen is a natural mentor. Her guidancehas led many techno-phobes to have more confidencein their abilities. It's amazing after a one or two day workshop to seeteachers (often older and later in their careers) have a shining light in their eyes as they demonstrate what they have learned. Jen doesnot needto have a spotlight on her - she seems to shine most when it is the reflected light coming back from her happy and enthused adult learners. Creativity: It is not often that we have a problem that Jen cannot solve with technology. She can gathermaterials on her Moodle site, offer solutions that might work and ask for input on a Google doc, then sendout a Doodle to get some feedbackor set a meeting date. If a teacherwants to createa wiki, a vodcast,a podcastor a Ning, she can help them set it up either in personor via Elluminate or another

Letter of Reference for Jennifer Clevette

I am pleased to provide a letter of reference for Jen Clevette whom I have know for the past six years. Ifirst met Jen as a colleague when I became the Professional Development Curriculum Coordinator forNorthwest Regional Learning Consortium which covers all of Zone One in northem Alberta. This roleput me in a position where I would come into regular contact with other PD leaders from nine schooldistricts. From the very first month I was on the job, I found Jen to be an excellent source of support, inspiration, professional leadership, and practical on-the-job "get it done" style. We have developed aclose working relationship that has continued for the past six years. In this time my respect andadmiration for all that Jen knows and does has grown even more - she is a fabulous educator, anincredible collaborator, and a leader among educators in our zone.

Leadership: Jen willingly provides leadership on a wide range of topics. She is a skilled facilitator intechnology and curriculum (Moodle, SMART, Social Studies, et al) and workshop participants give herrave reviews. These positive ratings are not only for the well planned and delivered content and herinteractive style which sees teachers as active participants in their own learning, but for her style - shemakes participants feel very successful with her low-key encouraging nature and gentle sense ofhumor. Jen can laugh at herself and can get others to see the humor in their day too.

Jen has also led a cohort ofsocial studies teachers for the past four years. Thesejunior high teachershave worked with the program of studies to plan lessons and assessment tasks for their classrooms. They received weekly updates, as well as regular contact with Jen and the rest of the cohort. The grouphas really gelled by having her connect them via technology! As well she is a certified SMART trainerfor PWSD and once again provides the glue that keeps the group moving forward. Email questions areanswered at all hours of the day and evening as Jen keeps in regular contact with many of her cohortgroups and other colleagues that she has connected with at various sessions, schools and meetings.

Mentorship: Jen is a natural mentor. Her guidance has led many techno-phobes to have moreconfidence in their abilities. It's amazing after a one or two day workshop to see teachers (often olderand later in their careers) have a shining light in their eyes as they demonstrate what they have learned.Jen does not need to have a spotlight on her - she seems to shine most when it is the reflected lightcoming back from her happy and enthused adult learners.

Creativity: It is not often that we have a problem that Jen cannot solve with technology. She cangather materials on her Moodle site, offer solutions that might work and ask for input on a Google doc, then send out a Doodle to get some feedback or set a meeting date. remote connection. To her, technology is a tool that allows her to expand the minds those around her,and she uses it as a natural extension of her inquiring mind.

Collaborator: As noted above, Jen works well in teams. She strives to bring out the best in others anddoes not require credit for the work. Her reward is the end result - an effective team that workstogether to create something better for the classroom, boardroom, or staffroom. I have rarely workedwith another colleague who was as good at creating a sense of 'team" as Jen is able to do.

Critical Thinker: In today's world where the options for solutions (and problems!) are endless, thereis a great deal of critical thinking required to ensure that options are considered using carefully selectedcriteria. Jen is able to analyze a problem, establish clear goals and criteria, and select the tools thatwould best meet the needs of the day. If the pathway becomes fuzzy she is willing to do the researchagainand find out just where things aren't quite right - then go in and chart an altered course so thatthe goals can be reached. I commend her abilities as a researcher and critical thinker, especially in theareas of curriculum and technology.

Dependable, Loyal, Dedicated: When I have a unique challenge, I find it easy to discuss it with Jen.Together we can often come up with away to meet the needs of the current situation. When I need afacilitator at the last minute, I call Jen first. She knows that in the world of Professional Development,if a session has been booked and teachers are coming, it is essential to deliver - and she does. WhetherI need a presenter in a remote location for two teachers, or a central location with 50 teachers, I can callher and she won't be fazed at all - she'll be excited to have the opportunity to share and collaborate. She is one dependable colleague.

Overall Recommendation: Jen Clevette is a dedicated and exceptional teacher, leader, mentor andguide. She has a plethora of strengths (only a few of which have been noted in this letter) but it is herability to mentor adult educators that is a real highlight. I have no hesitation offering a completeendorsement of Jen in any position of professional development where coaching adults is afundamentalpart of the role description. Jen inspires confidence, exudes enthusiasm, and is a leader inthe eyes of her peers. Please feel to contact me directly should you have any additional questions.
