What does a photographer do?

Photographers take pictures of people, places, or things. They want us to get a special feeling when we see their pictures. They take pictures to sell products, entertain people, report the news, or bring back memories.

Photographers know how to choose the right equipment to give them the best picture. They use different things such as lights, lenses, and film to create a picture

How much do you make?

The money photographers make depends on what they actually do. Some people can take pictures and sell them, and some people take pictures and have their own business. But some people can be professional photographers. And take pictures for bigger people.

When having your own your business you can charge different prices for what you do, how big the project someone is asking of or what all they need done to the picture(s).

when selling your pictures it depends on what people are asking for and how many people are looking for that one picture. Everything depends.

when taking pictures for famous high paying people you might be making up to 40k

What are the qualifications?

to be a photographer you need too have a good eye for things , good lighting different views of things and seeing objects and people in different ways,

Photographers need good eyesight, artistic ability, and good hand-eye coordination. They should be patient, accurate, and detail-oriented and should be able to work well with others, as they frequently deal with clients, graphic designers, and advertising and publishing specialists. Photographers need to know how to use computer software programs and applications that allow them to prepare and edit images, and those who market directly to clients should know how to use the Internet to display their work.

Schooling or training

You have to have Bachelor's and associate degree if you are not going to have your own business.

you do need to have training. About 3 to 4 years of schooling and training.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, notes that a college degree in Photography usually is required for those seeking salaried Photography positions. This includes jobs with commercial or portrait studios, newspapers or advertising . However, most photographers are self-employed and may be able to rely on talent and experience in.

When becoming a photographer

Becoming a photographer requires more than the ability to take good pictures. From securing copyrights to licensing photographs to others, the business side of Photography is as important as the creative side. A formal education in Photography can help beginning photographers learn what happens after their pictures are taken. Photography students also learn to effectively promote themselves, edit their work using programs such as Adobe Photoshop and create winning portfolios.

learning different software to edit pictures, some people may want a black and white picture and some might want to edit out some things in there pictures. So you have to learn how to work with different software's in order to please your customer.

Duties and responsibilities

Develops films, makes color prints, enlargements and projection slides to be used for publications, exhibits and displays.

Mounts slides and operates photographic equipment and slide duplicating equipment to duplicate slides and filmstrips.

Maintains inventory of various photographic supplies such as chemicals and paper; orders supplies according to departmental policies and/or budget constraints.

Requisitions supplies according to department policies and/or budget guidelines.

Oversees work of Photographer, Assistants or Photo Technicians; assigns work as needed; trains staff.

May operate various graphic design equipment such as cameras, graphic computers and printing and lettering equipment.

Consults with clients to determine needs based on end use, budget and time.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of techniques, principles and equipment of modern

photography including still, motion, color, and black and white photography.

Knowledge of basic computer operations and software. Skill in both verbal and written communication.
