Different genres

It is important to be able to recognize how generic conventions, or labels, are used in a text.

In this presentation you will see excerpts from different texts. Read them carefully and, in each case, try to establish the genre of the piece and evaluate whether or not it is a good example of the genre.

It is essential in your work that you can not only discuss what genre a text belongs to, but that you can also identify the key conventions of that genre in a text.
