Are there any teachers’ notes?

This product does not contain hard-copy teachers’ notes.

You can view the notes during a slide show by right-clicking and choosing “Speaker Notes”.

When not in “Slide Show” view, select the “View” menu and click on “Normal”. You will see the notes relevant to that particular slide at the bottom of the screen.

All slides containing Flash-based content have the Flash icon in the top right-hand corner, as above. The Flash activities are not editable but can be copied and pasted into other presentations, like other objects in PowerPoint. All Flash activities are designed to be easy-to-use and self-explanatory. In most activities the arrow button ( ) resets the activity, and the question mark button ( ) provides extra help.

When you open a PowerPoint presentation, you may receive a warning message saying that macros are present. These macros enable the Flash to run and are safe to enable when using our products.

This product contains interactive exercises designed in Flash, a multimedia technology. To view the Flash-based content, you will need to have the most recent version of Macromedia Flash player installed on your computer. To ensure that you have the correct version, double-click on the file ‘Install Flash Player 7 AX.exe’ included on the Boardworks CD-ROM, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Can I edit the presentations?

One of the major advantages of Boardworks KS4 Chemistry is that it has been created in PowerPoint, which means it is editable. You are free to use the standard PowerPoint functionality to edit the presentations, including reordering, adding or deleting slides, adding or removing text, or inserting your own activities or images. The only items that aren’t editable are the Flash activities, but these can still be copied and pasted between slides and presentations.

Many schools save the original version of the product on the network, with teachers saving their own versions locally.

You can use any media in your own presentations for educational use within the school that has bought the product, with the exception of images that have a copyright line or other acknowledgement next to them; we cannot grant copyright for these items as we have licensed from another party and they must not be copied or edited in any way. If you move to another school, you must remove any Boardworks media from your own presentations. The Copyright Licence supplied on the CD-ROM contains fuller details and takes precedence over this document.
