Congratulations to our Zion Church members in the

High School graduating Classes of 2020

Brandon Baxter is the son of Jeannine and Darryl Uhler and Keith Baxter. He is gradu-ating from Central York High School on the Distinguished Honor Roll and in the top 5% of his class. At Central Brandon played Soccer, was a 2 year team All Star and MVP for Cross Country, participated in Track and field, and was a member of the National Honor Society for both Spanish and Science. Brandon plans on attending Elizabethtown College in the fall to major in biology and continue his athletic

career as a member of the Track and Cross Country team. Brandon says that God has given him “many great friends, memories, and role models. All of which have inspired me to give my best shot in everything I do”. He thanks Zion Church for all the great people he met and memories he made, and hopes Zion can continue “to be a place for me to go for guidance and support.” Brandon is a Zion Scholarship recipient and a Student Leader of CrossLife Youth Minis-try.

Brennan Heist is the son of Michael and Jill Heist. He is graduating from West York Area High School on June 5th, 2020. He will be attending Penn State, Altoona Campus to study Electro-Mechanical Engineering. He plans to participate in club sports.

While in high school he has participated in Cross Country for 3

years. He has been part of the Swimming and Diving team setting two school rec-ords for diving. He also participated on the track and field team as a jumper, long and triple jump for 4 years. He was named a YAIAA scholar athlete and has earned several academic awards through-out his high school career. He was a member of the robotics club throughout high school as well as winning several awards in local competitions with other high school students. He participate in the Pumpkin Chunkin contest two years in a row with his team finishing first this past year.

Brennan has participated in two mission trips with Zion - one to South Carolina and another last year to North Carolina. He enjoys helping people and hopes his skills in the engineering field will allow him to help people in the future.

Sydney Koncsol is the daughter of Kim and Ted Koncsol. She is gradu-ating from Central York High School on May 22nd and plans to attend Eastern University in the fall to major in Secondary Education, specializing in English and playing for the Wom-en’s Soccer Team. While attending Central, Sydney was a member of the National Honor Society, Future Edu-cators of America, Mini-THON, and Varsity Soccer. She achieved Distin-guished Honor Roll, and earned the Stellar Student Award, the Communi-ties that Care Award, and was a four

time Soccer County Champion as well as a Senior Soccer All Star. Sydney says she has seen God at work in her college decision pro-cess, saying that God has “placed me” at Eastern. She also says that “Zion has always been a place that I can come to and always find a friend to help me…” and she hopes to continue attending Mission Trips and become a Youth Leader in the future. Sydney is a Zion Scholarship recipient and a Student Leader in CrossLife Youth.

Elle N. Mummert is the daughter of Cindy and Andy Mummert. She is the granddaughter of Cheryl and Bob An-derson. She is graduating from Central York High School as a Distinguished Honor Roll Student and National Hon-ors Society Member. Elle was an active member of Central’s Mini-THON and became an Overall her senior year. She enjoys her job at The Athletic Club of York where she works at the front desk and daycare. In the fall, Elle will be attending Stockton University to study Exercise Science. She then plans to attend Medical School to become a

Physician’s Assistant. Elle has seen God at work through her “great family and amazing friends” as she continues to grow closer to Him. She hopes that Zion continues to be a place she can come back to and can “always trust”. Elle is a Zion Scholarship recipient.

Brendan Morin is the son of Kim and Kyle Morin. He is graduating from Spring Grove High School. Brendan is also a member of the Majesty Ring-ers at Zion. No other information was provided for this graduate.

Scotlyn Shaffer is the daughter of Tom and Stacey Shaffer. She is gradu-ating from Central York High School, and in the fall she will be attending Millersville University to major in Nuclear Medicine Technology. No other information was provided for this graduate.

Shayna J. Young is the daughter of Brian and Stephanie Young. She is grad-uating from Christian School of York as a Distinguished Honor Roll student. Shayna was Chaplain of the National Honor Society, Secretary of the Stu-

dent Council, a Yearbook editor, and participat-ed in Track and Field. She was also a teacher’s assistant at CSY’s preschool. Shayna plans to begin her college career at HACC majoring in Psychology. Her goal is to become a licensed professional counselor. Shayna enjoys volun-teering in Zion’s nursery. Shayna is extremely grateful for her Rainbow Junction preschool teachers and Sunday School teachers at Zion who have helped raise her into the caring and compassionate young woman she is today. Shayna expects Zion to be “a place full of love and support throughout my journey.” Shayna’s walk with God has taught her that she is not alone and she will use this reminder as a guide

to help others who feel lost so that they may come to know Christ.
