Det>r Friend,

The 22nd Conference of the South African Indian Congress will bp held at the Oandhl Hall, Johannesburg on 19t.h, 20th and 21at Ootober, 1956 to consider grave issues facing the Indian people.

The recent proclamation of Group Araae In Johanneoburg,a fleeting b quarter of the Indian pooulatlon of the Transvaal, means the uprooting of long established homes and businesses and rofchln^ of property worth millions of pounds. This inhuman and barbaric onslaughtin the first logical outcome of the Grouo Arena A c t __its processcn o countrywide scale will culminate in the uprooting of millions of Non Vhitea bringing in its train dire consecuences and Impoverishment find will hove the effect of relegating them to a status of oer- nstuftl subservlsnoo. It is bound to plunge the country into the throes oj upheavals and racial strife on a magnitude unknown before.

The Conference or the South Afrioan Indian Congress will be mcotlng^ to dlacuac and devise vwye and means. In co-ooeration with democratic organisations of the neople, to bring a halt to the tide of faBclsa which is svcoolng our land.

tfe have besn heartened by the unstinting sunnort and solidarity ti h - you have expressed in the past and therefore approach you onoe again to send a uesnoge of grpptlngs to our Conference.

In thenking you wp sen'' you the best wishes of the South African *n<lian Congress,
