Role of the DesignerA research formula

Research is the foundation for any design process. Here are some common steps to use when researching any product or brand.

> Who are you? Get to know your client. Who are they, what exactly do they do, how long have they been doing it?

> Key Audience? Who is the target audience and what do they look like (create a moodboard od overall audiences ‘persona’).

> Key competitors? Who is doing something similar, what current marketing strategies are they using?

Role of the DesignerA research formula

Research is the foundation for any design process. Here are some common steps to use when researching any product or brand.

> Brand Universe? Where does your product/brand sit with in their universe of competitors? Are they top of the range, are they the best, so they slighly sit out of the main stream?

> Tone of Voice? What does their brand image represent? Does its ‘personality’ have a certain personality trait - loud, modern & bold, or soft, organic and warm? Articulate this through a mood-board of a client’s personality.
