CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

Sonar Bangla International Salon is open to all photographers, amateur and professional, worldwide.

An entry may be rejected when the sponsoring organization, in its reasonable discretion, believes the entry does not conform to exhibition rules and conditions.

Multiple images which are substantially similar may not be entered into one or multiple Sections. Images that have been converted between Mono and Color are considered to be the same image for this rule. Work which is almost identical in style and subject matter are not eligible for resubmission. SECTIONS Print

Each entrant may submit a maximum of four (4) images in each of the following sections: Open Pictorial Print Large Monochrome Class Section (Large Monochrome Print) PSA

PPD mono

Open Pictorial Print Large Colour Class Section (Large Color Print) PSA PPD Color

Digital Open Color (color digital) PSA PID Color

Nature Open (color/monochrome digital) PSA ND

By submitting an entry into the Sonar Bangla International Salon , the entrant certifies the work as their own (aliases are not permitted) and permits the organizers to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for publication in a catalogue, on Internet website and/or in other media related to the Society for Aperture of Howrah or by organization.

NOTE: Entrants who indicate that their images may not be reproduced or used: may not be eligible for awards or inclusion in audio-visuals of the exhibition and could be subjected to disqualification by the exhibition sponsors.

Entrants MUST use only English (international) language when submitting an entry.

DIGITAL IMAGE SIZE:

All images are to be submitted in JPEG format in the correct orientation. Maximum horizontal dimension (including any borders) should be 1920 pixels and Maximum Vertical (including any borders) dimension should not exceed 1080 pixels. The longer dimension in any direction should not be less than 1080 pixels.

4 MB maximum with 300 dpi.

Rules for Print Entry

1.Entrants will have to register himself/herself at our website. Only registered entrants will

be allowed to upload print details along with smaller versions (1920 X1080 at 300 dpi) of

print image for final verification and publication of selected images in salon Printed catalog.

No specific file name is required but a valid file name must be given. File name should not

contain special characters like / & % $ # @ * !. Avoid using camera generated number as

your file name. Try to limit the file name to within 36 character including jpg extension.

Entrants will be required to upload small size images of their print for final verification with

prints and publication in catalogue. The size should be limited to 1024 pixel by 768 pixel at

300 Dpi. Do not upload your high resolution file. The final print size should not be less

than 10” X 12 “ and should not be larger than 18” X 12” inclusive of border if any.

Follow the instructions at web site. For Print entry please generated your bar codes from the

web site and print it with laser printer. Cut the individual labels for each print and affix them

at the back side of your print. Then complete your packing and affix the packet bar code on

your packet and send it to Salon Chairman. Prints without bar code can not be judged.

Print the entry form in the above manner. A barcode will be generated. pls stick the

respective barcode on the back of the print and on the packet as well.

2. Every entrant must affix the bar codes generated against his/her registration from

our website. Without bar code no print can be entered for judging.

3. Entries without entry fees will be judged but results and catalogue dispatch will be

pending till receipt of the same and upto a maximum of 10 days before EDAS date beyond

which the results will be deleted from the list for unpaid entrants and EDAS list will include

only paid entrants list.

5. Each candidate may submit a maximum of 4 (four) entries in one section and 4 images of

an entrant will be judged in 4 different rounds in each section.

7. The judging and display software operates in and assumes that the images are in

sRGB color space. Images will be displayed on a EPSON Powerlite 8350 with

1080P resolution for digital sections. For print section however the original prints

will be placed in front of the judges on a black background with proper lighting

arrangements.

Entries must originate as photographs (image captures of objects via light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired digitally.

Images may be altered, either digitally or otherwise, by the maker and artwork or computer graphics created by the entrant may be incorporated if the photographic content predominates.

Any modification of the original image must be made by the entrant subject to PSA

divisional restrictions and FIAP restrictions if any.

All aspects of every image MUST be the total and exclusive work of the submitting photographer.

Images may not include any element that was originated by or is the copyright of other photographers. The originality of the photo and its manipulation breaches the copyright act; the author will solely be responsible for that. Sonar Bangla International Salon will not take any responsibility of such unlawful act. Sonar Bangla International Salon does not promote the same.

An entrants four images will be distributed throughout four rounds of judging.With the sole

act of submitting his/her images or files to a salon under FIAP Patronage, the entrant accepts without

exception and with no objection that the submitted images can be investigated by FIAP to

establish if these obey to FIAP regulations and definitions even if the entrant is not a

member of FIAP; that FIAP will use any means at its disposal for this undertaking; that any

refusal to cooperate with FIAP or any refusal to submit the original files as captured by the

camera, or failure to provide sufficient evidence, will be sanctioned by FIAP and that in case

of sanctions following the non-compliance with FIAP regulations, the name of the entrant

will be released in any form useful to inform the breaches of the rules. It is recommended to

leave the EXIF data in the submitted files intact in order to ease eventual investigations.

NOTICE: When an entrant goes into to the Entry Form to submit an entry the entrant will see a feature to

affirm he or she has read these Conditions of Entry when he or she fills out the entry form. If the entrant

does not so affirm the entry will not be submitted.

FILE NAMES

The file name may be anything or same as the title and must not exceed 30 characters which include spaces.

TITLES

All images MUST have a title; those images "without title" are not allowed in the Sonar Bangla International Salon . Each image must have a unique title. No title or identification of the photographer shall be anywhere on the face of an image. PLEASE do not put numbers at the start of the title. The title must be as you would wish it to appear in the catalog therefore no other information, special characters or separators should be included in the file name. Special Characters " ' & < > + = please avoid the use of them. These characters can interfere with processing of your data and entry. Words such as “Untitled” and “No Title” will be acceptable as part or all of an image‟s title, but camera capture filenames or titles consisting of only numbers will not be accepted. Image titles are limited to 30 characters which includes spaces. Once an image has been accepted in a PSA Recognized exhibition, that same image, or a like "in camera" or a "reproduction" duplicate of that image: May not be re-entered in any section of the same Division in that exhibition regardless of media, format, or title. Image may not be re-titled for entry in any other PSA Recognized exhibition.

NOTIFICATIONS

Notifications of results will be posted at www.sonarbangla.net.in for view and download. Entrants should ensure that they provide an active email address . Notifications will NOT be sent by post.

Notification of results will show the name 3rd Sonar Bangla International Salon 2018 and year of the exhibition and the section involved.

Fees should be made through PayPal by overseas entrants. Indian entrants should pay by A/C Payee multicity cheque or draft drawn

in favor of Society for Aperture of Howrah, Payable at Howrah.

Printed Catalogue

Entrants who will receive a large printed catalog will be

sent through post only to the registered address. Each

entrant is requested to upload his/her profile image in the

register page, so that we can publish the profile picture in

our large catalog for selected Images.

Conditions Of Entry

Any person except organizers and judges of this Salon can participate in

3rd

Sonar Bangla International Salon 2018.

The exhibition is open to any one; however, an entry may be rejected

when the sponsoring organization or its agent, in its reasonable

discretion, believes, the entry dose not conform to the exhibition rules and

conditions.

An entrant‟s images will not be presented to the judges

consecutively.

An entrant‟s four images will be distributed throughout four rounds Of judging in that station. Distribution of images shall be in the same

round order as submitted by the entrant.

Entries must originate as photographs (images -captures of objects

via Light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired digitally.

By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as his own

(aliases are not permitted). The entrant permits the sponsors to

reproduce all or part of the entered material free of the charge of publication and/or Display in media to the exhibition. This may

include low resolution posting on a website.

Note: Entrants who indicate that their images may not be reproduced

or used “will not be eligible for award” or inclusion in audio-visuals

of the exhibition “and could be subject to the disqualification” by the exhibition sponsors.

The exhibition assumes no liability of any misuse of copyright. Images may be altered, either electronically or otherwise, by the

maker. Provided the phonographic content predominates, Subject to

Nature, Photo Travel and Photojournalism division restrictions. All final work must be on Photographic film, or on photographic or

electronic file, or on photographic or electronic print material,

mounting excepted.

No title or identification of the maker shall be visible anywhere on

the face of an image, print mat or mount entered in a PSA Recognized exhibition.

Each image must have unique title. Once an image has been

accepted in a PSA Recognized, that same image, or a like “in

camera” or a “reproduction” duplicate of the image.

a) May not be-entered in any section of the same division star Rating class in the exhibition regardless of media, format, or

title.

b) May not be re-titled for entry in any other PSA Recognized

exhibition Words such as “Untitled” and “No Title” are not

acceptable as part or all of on image‟s title nor are camera capture file names.

BREACH OF CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

If the exhibition determines before, during, or after the judging that an entrant has submitted entries where one or more images fail to

comply with these conditions of Entry, including the stated

definitions, the exhibition reserves the right and discretion to delete the entry from the exhibition and void any all acceptances or awards.

Fees may and definitions, the exhibition may carry out checks on the

images to make sure that.

a)The images are the original work of the entrant and

b)The images comply with the rules and definitions as set out in these Conditions of Entry.

This may involve asking the entrant to provide originally captured image(s), with EXIF data intact, by a deadline. The questioned

images(s) may be considered in breach of these Conditions of Entry,

and declined.Such entries may be referred to PSA for further investigation of possible ethics violations. PSA retains the right to

investigate in any way all complaints/suspicions of breaches of entry

conditions, impose sanctions if deemed necessary, void the acceptances of any image found to violate the PSA rules, include the

entrant‟s name on the list of sanctions provided to exhibition, and

share such investigations with FIAP. Entrants automatically agree to these terms by the act of entering the Exhibition.

FIAP DEFINATION OF MONOCHROME

A black and white work fitting from the very dark gray (Black) to the

very clear grey (White) is a monochrome work the various shades of

grey. A black and white work toned entirely in single colour will remain a monochrome work able to stand in the black and white

category; such a work can be reproduced in black and white in the

catalogue of the salon under FIAP Patronage. On the other hand a black and white work modified by a partial toning or by the addition

of one colour becomes a colour work (polychrome) to stand in the

colour category such a work requires colour reproduction in the catalogue of a salon under FIAP patronage.

PSA DEFINATION OF MONOCHROME

An image is considered to be Monochrome only if it gives the

impression of having no color (i.e.contanins only shades of gray

which can include pure black and pure white) OR it gives the impression of being a grey scale image that has been toned in one

color across the entire image.(For example by sepia,red,gold,etc)

A grey scale or multi-colored image modified or giving the

impression of having been modifierd by partial toning, multi-toning

or by the inclusion of spot coloring dose not meet the defination of monochrome and shall be classified as a Color work.

Monochrome images may not be entered in PID Color sections or Monochrome images may be entered in PID Color sections but if

accepted will only be eligble towards PID Color star Rating.

FIAP AND PSA DEFITATION OF NATURE

Nature photography is retricted to the use of the photographic

process to depict all branches o nature history, except anthropology

and archeology, in such a fashion that a well-informed person will be able to identify the subject material and certify its honest presention.

The story telling value of the photograph must be weighed more

than the pictorial quality while maintaining high technical quality.

Human element shall not be present, except where those human elements are integral parts of the nature story such as nature subjects,

like barn owls or storkes, adapted to an environment modifield by

humans, or where those human elements are in situations depicting natural forces, like hurricanes or tidal waves.

Secientific bands, scientific tags or radio collars on wild animals, domestic animals, or mounted specimens are ineligible, as is

any form of manipulation that alters the truth of the photographic

statement.

No techniques that enhance the presentation of the photograph

whithout changing the nture story or the pictorial, or whithout

altering The content of the orginal scene, are peritted including HDR, focus stacking and dodging/burning.

Techniques that remove elements added by the camera, such as dust spots, digital noise, and film scratches, are allowed.Stitched

images are not permitted.All images must appear natural.

Color images cn be converted to grey scale monochrome. Infrared images, either direct-captures or derivations, are not

allowed.Images entered in Nature sections meeting the Nature

Photography Definition above can have lanscapes, geologic formations weather phenomena , and extant organisms as the primary

subject matter. This includes images with subjects in controlled

condition, such as zoos, game farms, botanical gradens, aquaiums and any enclosure where the subjects are totally dependent on man

for food.

PSA DEFINATION OF PHOTO TRAVEL

A Photo Trvel images expresses the chara cteristic features or

culture of a land as they are found naturally. There are no

geographic limitations. Images from events or activies arranged specifically for photography, or of subjects directed or hired for

photography are not appropriate. Close up pictures of people or

objects must include features that provide information about the

environment.Techniques that add, relocate or remove any element of

the original image,except by cropping , are not permitted. The only

allowable adjustments are removal of dust or digital noise, restoration of the appearance of the original scene, and complete

conversion to grey scale monochrome. Other derivations, including

infrared, are not permitted . All images must apperar natural.
