On a day like this, when we are looking for a few minutes back in time, there are many people we should be grateful to.
First of all, all our employees who have had thrust in the company and have together done a piece of work which has brought us to where we are today.
The next important group is our customers who have had confidence in us and given us many exciting and challeng-ing work tasks. We have today a long list of customers both locally and many places around the world, which we can be proud of.
Also, one of the reasons that Marin Teknikk has been able to build up and grow to where we are today, is our location. In the middle of the best maritime cluster in the world.
Based on this and many more smaller reasons we should have the best opportunities for the future.

30 YEARS ANNIVERSARY MARIN TEKNIKK //
Marin Teknikk AS was established in 1981 by Edvard Gjerde and Svein-Rune Gjerde. The shares at that time owned 60% by Edvard and 40% by Svein-Rune.Marin Teknikk AS activity in the first years was mainly to pro-vide services for ship owners and shipyards in the region, but also for some companies with mechanical production for other fields. In addi-tion to naval engineer-ing work, MT produced specialized tank sound-ing system for MUD tanks, developed new technology for com-puterized hour coun-ter and maintenance system with automatic monitoring and space part system. However the main scope the first ten years was in all kind of engineering work for various conversion and new building projects and a lot of strenght & stability calculations for a huge number of dif-ferent vessels.
Marin Teknikk’s activity today is mainly based on own designs - The MT-Design - Design and projecting of different types of ships for the offshore market and fishing vessels world wide have been the main priority and activities the recent years. MT-Design has now become a well known reputable ship design in the international maritime industry.
Design and project work is performed by means of advanced computer programs. This has been the case since 1982 when MT started to use AutoCad for Computer Aided Design and in 1984 when MT bought the first computer and software for stability calculations. In 1985 MT provided all the technical engineering drawing needed for construction of new trawlers and other vessels based on the AutoCad system.
In 2005 MT choose the Sener- FORAN-CAD/CAM/CAE De-sign, Engineering and Production System tool for 3D model-ling of forms definition for naval architecture, steel structure, machinery and outfitting, electrical, accommodation, from conceptual design to detail engineering in design and con-struction of vessels.
MT is also a major user of DNV’s Nautical and SESAM soft-ware package for modelling and strenght analysis. MT is also working with DNV as a chosen member in a limited group of companies developing a new IntelliShip full suite solution system that provides all the capabilities needed to design and build a ship.
The development of different types of soft-ware programs is con-tinious in improving the company’s Servic-es and MT aim to have the most feasible tools at any time. To enable and ensure good over-wiev and quality in all projects design phases and processes, MT has become a large user of Triark, software for handling of draw-ings and documents.
MT’s great advantag-es as an independant
designer has been flexibility and use of new innovative and tecnological advanced solutions into the MT-Design. Being a reliable design partner in the international maritime shipping business requires 100% focus on renewal and never rest on one’s laurels. Therefore MT will continue with what we are best at, namely to tailor made ship design for demanding cus-tomers and help in building these vessels together with all the talented people around the world.
