The project proposals should target coastal areas, and the most touristic ones in priority; the project developed could be adapted for replication to other relevant places. It may build on existing initiatives or start new ones.

Dear Dryneties!

Page 7: 2019 green, blue econo… · Web vie

I hope this message finds you well.

I would like to alert you on the following: since 2007, Both ENDS is managing the Joke Waller-Hunter initiative, a small grants fund to support young leadership in southern civil society regarding themes of environmental and climate justice and sustainable development.

Every year, we are able to support around 15-18 young and prosperous individuals in her/his personal development, meaning courses, trainings or other activities to improve her/his skills, knowledge or networks. We explicitly do not support project activities. The grants available are between 2.000 and max 7.000 euros. On our website, the following description of a candidate has been described:“Young people who work or are affiliated with environmental CSOs in developing countries and emerging economies who have shown potential for and interest in further developing their leadership. Candidates can come from anywhere except from ‘advanced economies’ (see below for list based on the IMF classification). The definition of ‘young’ is not linked to a concrete age limit. However, preference will be given to young women and men under 35 of age. We would like to especially encourage the nomination of young women and local community leaders. The candidates should have proof of an excellent track record in:

–      Fully embracing the idea of sustainable development and environmental justice.

–      A strong background in working on environmental and sustainable development issues;

–      Showing potential and ambition towards becoming a leader in her/his field of work, such as being inspirational and a support to others, working with communities, being innovative and creative;

–      Committed to work on environmental and sustainable development issues in her/his country/region.

–      Preferably a connection with Both ENDS, although this is not requirement per se.

  So, if someone in your organisation and/or your network comes to mind, please do not hesitate to alert this person. Make sure to read the rules and regulations (http://www.jwhinitiative.org/grantees/upcoming/) and if you think the nominee could qualify for the JWHi grant, we would be happy to receive the full nomination package. If you have any further questions, please send an email to Daan Robben who is the coordinator, [email protected] or take a look at the website http://www.jwhinitiative.org. The deadline for this year’s call is August 9, 2019 (midnight Amsterdam time). Best wishes, Nathalie--
