ESSENTIAL OILS AND THEIR SCENTS

Allspice: Rich, warm clove-like sent, yet soft and spicy fragrance, like balsamic. Blends well with Lavender, Ylang Ylang, and Patchouli.

Angelica: Sharp, similar to the scent of green stems just broken. Green, herbaceous and earthy; It blends well with Patchouli, Oakmoss, Vetivert, and Citrus oils.

Anise: Licorice; warm, spicy and sweet. Blends well with Cypress, Pine, Rose, and Lavender.

Basil: Sweet; herbaceous green and uplifting. Spicy, warm and fiery, somewhat like licorice. Blends well with Rosemary, Geranium, Clary Sage, Oakmoss, and Sandalwood.

Bergamot: Fresh, balsamic and fruity, sweet and refreshing, but with slightly spicy floral undertones. Blends well with Jasmine, Neroli, Cypress, Geranium most Citrus Oils, and Chamomile

Black Pepper: Pungent, sporty, woody, fresh, spicy, warm, herbaceous peppery aroma. Blends well with Grapefruit, Lavender, Sandalwood, Oakmoss, and Patchouli.

Calendula: Herbaceous, pungent, diffusive, sharp. Blends well with Oakmoss, floral and citrus oils.

Cardamom: Fresh, sweet, spicy, green, spicy, woody- balsamic. Blends well with Cinnamon, Clove, Ylang Ylang, Cedarwood, Orange, and Mandarin.

Cedar wood: Soft, sweet, warm, woody-balsamic and fruity with honey overtones. Blends well with Bergamot, Frankincense, Juniper, Cypress, Vetivert, Ylang Ylang, Allspice, and most citrus oils.

Chamomile: Sweet, warm, herbaceous, fresh and fruity aroma. Blends well with Lavender, Clary Sage, Oakmoss, Bergamot, and Geranium.

Cinnamon: A sweet, spicy-hot fragrance. The aroma is smoky and warm. Blends well with most citrus oils, Ylang Ylang, Benzoin, and Peppermint.


Citronella: Woody, sweet, gassy, fruity, and slightly herbaceous with a citrus undertone. Blends well with Geranium, Bergamot, Orange, and Cedarwood.

Clary Sage: A nutty, heady, sweet, herbaceous, warm and mildly intoxicating smell. Blends well with Juniper, Lavender, Jasmine, Bergamot, and Other Citrus Oils.

Cypress: Fresh, woody, clear, light, balsamic and sweet, slightly spicy with a clean scent. Blends well with Juniper, Patchouli, Oakmoss, Bergamot, and Chamomile

Eucalyptus: Is pungent, sharp, penetrating, strong and camphor-like with woody sub-notes. Blends well with Pine, Rosemary, Thyme, Cedarwood, Lavender, and Lemon.

Everlasting: Strong honey and hay odors with herbaceous notes. Reminiscent of tea, with green fruity undertones. Blends well With Geranium, Clary Sage Most Citrus Oil, Cypress, Benzoin, Patchouli, and Vetivert.

Fennel: Herbaceous, sweet honey, strong licorice, earthy, peppery and warm. Blends well with Sandalwood, Lavender, and Geranium.

Frankincense: A complex soft, sweet, balsamic, fresh, warm and heady incense-like fragrance. Blends well with Juniper, Cedarwood and Other Coniferous Oils; Vetivert, Geranium, and Lavender.

Geranium: Flowery rose, sweet, dry citrus undertone, green with a hint of mint. Blends well with Lavender, Neroli, Bergamot and most Citrus Oils, Clove, and Patchouli.

Ginger: Known for its peppery, sharp, fresh, pungent, woody, spicy, warm and earthy aromatic scent. It blends well with Sandalwood, Lime and other Citrus Oils, Cedarwood, Coriander, and Patchouli.

Grapefruit: Warm, sweet and fresh citrus with slight floral undertone. Blends well with other Citrus Oils, Spice Oils, Cypress, Geranium, Lavender, Patchouli, and Rosemary.

Hyssop: Woody, earthy, sweet and warm, herbaceous, camphoraceous,spicy. Blends well with Rosemary, Lavender, Bay Clary Sage, and Citrus Oils.


Jasmine: Rich, warm, floral, and sweetly exotic with floral honey like aroma. Blends well with most oils including Sandalwood, Rose, and Clary Sage.

Juniper: Fresh, fruity, woody-balsamic, spicy and herbaceous. Blends well with Cedarwood, Frankincense, Lavender, Rosemary, and most Citrus Oils.

Lavender: Fresh, floral, light, powdery, herbaceous and sweet. (Hint: One of the most popular EO’s.) Blends well with all oils, especially florals, and Citrus Oils, Clove, Cedarwood, Chamomile Vetivert, and Patchouli.

Lemon: The most well known of citrus scents, lemon is clean, light, sweet, fresh and sugary aroma. Blends well with all Citrus Oils, Lavender, Geranium, Chamomile, Benzoin, Petitgrain, Ylang Ylang, and most Spice Oils.

Lemongrass: Fresh-grassy citrus, herbaceous and smoky. Think hay field on a sunny afternoon. Blends well with Basil, Bergamot, Black Pepper, Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Ginger, Grapefruit, Lavender, Lemon, Marjoram, Orange, Patchouli, Rosemary, Tea Tree, Thyme, and Ylang Ylang.

Lime: Fresh, sharp-fruity citrus-peel scent, sweet and candy like. Blends well with other Citrus Oils, Lavender, Citronella, and Clary Sage.Mandarin: Warm, citrus, sweet and fruity with floral overtones. Blends well with Neroli and Most Citrus Oils, and Spice Oils.

Myrrh: Warm, with sweet-balsamic, warm, smoky, slightly musty and earthy. Blends well with Patchouli, Oakmoss, Coniferous Oils, Benzoin, Geranium, and Lavender.

Neroli: Delicate yet rich, warm-floral, powdery, spicy, sweet with highly radiant fragrance. Blends well with Jasmine, all Citrus Oils, Chamomile, Geranium, Ylang Ylang, Clary Sage, and Benzoin.

Sweet Orange: Fresh, fruity, tangy and sweet-- a perky and lively scent. Blends well with all other Citrus Oils, many Spice Oils, Clay Sage, and Lavender.

Palmarosa (Turkish Geranium): Sweet, rosy, floral, herbaceous and lemony. Blends well with Rose Geranium, Rosewood, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, and Oakmoss.


Patchouli: Earthy, heavy, musty musk, penetrating, herbaceous, and smoky. Improves with age. Blends well with Oakmoss, Vetivert, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Lavender, Bergamot, and Clary Sage.

Peppermint: Minty fresh, grassy, cool, reminiscent of camphor and candy. Blends well with Benzoin, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Lavender, Geranium, and Orange.

Petitgrain: (Bitter Orange -- Sometimes use to replace Neroli.) Floral, fresh citrus and revitalizing with a hint of orange. Blends well with Citrus Oils, Lavender, Geranium, Clary Sage, Bergamot, Benzoin, and Jasmine.

Ravensara: A relatively rare essential oil with spicy, herbaceous, clear, sweet and licorice hints. Blends well with Clary Sage, Lavender, Rosemary, and Eucalyptus.

Rose Absolute: An intense, tenacious, warm and fragrant aroma of the deep, rich, heady, spicy-sweet floral scent of a rose. Blends well with most oils, including most Spice and Citrus, Black Pepper, Bergamot, Geranium, and Sandalwood.

Rosemary: Woody, fresh, herbaceous, camphoraceous, powerful and sharp. Blends well with Lavender, most Spice Oils, Basil, Petitgrain, Cedarwood, and many Coniferous Oils.

Rosewood: Sweet, woody-floral, powdery soft with an underlying scent of rose. Blends well with most oils particularly Citrus, Florals And Coniferous.

Sandalwood: Warm, rich, sweet, woody, deep, tenacious and soft. Blends well with Lavender, Rose, Benzoin, Bergamot, Rosewood, Black Pepper, Vetivert, and Patchouli.

Spearmint: Minty, spicy-herbaceous, cool, candy-like and fresh. Blends well with Lavender, Jasmine, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Basil, Peppermint.

Tangerine: Sweet, sparkling fresh citrus. Blends well with Neroli and Most Citrus Oils, and Spice Oils.

Tea Tree: Sharp, spicy-camphoraceous, warm with medicinal tones. Blends well with Lavender, Clary Sage, Oakmoss, Pine, Geranium, and Peppermint.


Vanilla: A distinctive, rich, balsamic, sweet, honey-like, warm and distinctive aroma. Blends well with most oils, Spice Oils, Benzoin, Rose Sandalwood, Vetivert.

Vetiver/t: Deep, smoky, earthy and musty with both a softness and full-bodied, sweet woody aroma. Blends well with Bay Laurel, Black Pepper, Sandalwood, Rose Patchouli, Oakmoss, Clary Sage, Ylang Ylang and other Spice Oils.

Ylang Ylang: Intensely sweet soft, spicy, balsamic and floral, Tropical and heady, this is a distinctive, sweet, intense, floral, creamy and rich scent. Blends well with Bergamot, Peru Balsam, Most Citrus Oils And Spice Oils.
