Controlling the Camera & Camera Modes

Train Sim World: Founders Edition includes a number of cameras for you to control.

To access the camera list, press and hold the right stick until a menu pops up in the middle of the screen. The first level of this menu allows you to select internal or external cameras.

Use the d-pad to move the selector, press the A button to select an option and the B button to go back up a level.

The exact set of cameras listed may differ depending on the train, but will always include a Driver view which is your normal view looking ahead at the track from the perspective of the driver. Simply select the view you want to move to it.

External cameras allow a view from outside the train. In order to facilitate easy camera control as well as allowing you to still drive the train fully you can use the Y button to toggle between Camera mode and Driver mode. An icon on the hud indicates which camera control mode you are in. You must be in Driver mode to change the camera you’re using.

In Camera mode - Your controller will primarily control the camera movement and you will lose access to most driving functions except the alerter/dsd response on the B button.

In Driver mode - Your controller will primarily control the train and you will have limited movement of the camera.

Front and Rear Boom Camera - Your camera extends outward on an invisible pole and you can rotate it around your focussed vehicle. Use the right stick to rotate the camera and the left stick to move it in and out.

Front and Rear Camera - A camera that allows you to freely look in all directions while remaining connected to your train, useful for coupling and changing switches as well as great views as you drive. The right stick rotates and angles the camera, the left stick is used to move it forwards, backwards, left and right. Use the right trigger to raise the camera height and the left trigger to lower it. You can also lock the current camera height by holding the right bumper, so that even if you move forwards while looking down, you will stay at the same height.

Free Camera - Freely move around without limits using this camera. Use this camera to navigate your way around a busy yard, change switches or position it to get the perfect screenshot. Controls for this mode are the same as the Front/Rear camera.
