Continua Health Alliance History Continua is a non-profit open industry alliance of healthcare and IT
companies dedicated to advancing the state of the art of personal telehealth:– “Fostering independence through establishing a system of interoperable personal telehealth
solutions that empower people and organizations to better manage health and wellness.”
Continua selects and drives standards to achieve this mission in three domains
– Disease Management
– Elderly Monitoring
– Health & Wellness
Depth and Breadth– IBM joined when Continua first went public (6/2006)
– Consisted of around 20 members (device founders)
– Has grown to > 150 members (covering spectrum of healthcare solutions)
– > 40 members are promoter level ($35k/yr)
– Members cover entire spectrum of everything to do with personal healthcare in any capacity including all backend services, collaboration, etc.
