Indiepocalyse, Episode 1

● Hard to get noticed by the gamers (sounds familiar?)

● 3k€ of royalties, a month…

● Especially on a not so popular service (1M devices).

● But we proved we could deliver quality games,

● And drew attention from mobile publishers!

● Work for Hire!

● Profitable (15k€ a month, 2 guys)!

● Easy! More visibility!

● Sold Assets to Infraworlds/Filao (Sofinnova Partners)!

● Nintendo DS Era!

● Closed console. How can we get in?

● Work for Hire!

● Became Official Nintendo Developer,

● Build-a-Bear Workshop sold ~2M copies,

● Enough money to start our own creation,

● And contacts with publishers/distributors to make the box exist!

● 50% self-funded, 50% co-produced,

● Reviews! Awards!

● Pastagames appears on the radar!

● But commercial total failure (~10k units)

Indie, Again!

● Meet Michel Ancel (sheer luck),

● He knows Maestro!

● Wants to make a mobile Rayman!

● Best Work for Hire on earth!

● Millions of copies sold,

● Ubisoft authorizes our logo on the splash screen!

● 88% on Metacritic, Awards,

● Love from all over the world,

● App Store, Best Game of 2012!

Back to Creation!

● Pix the Cat!

● Enough money to fund 100% of our next game!

● Let’s go for HD consoles!

● Shahid Ahmad of Sony Strategic Content knows Rayman Jungle Run!

● PlayStation Plus!

● More than 1 millions players on our own IP!

There‘s a Pattern here, right?

● Creation is the best way to:

– Stay hungry. Stay foolish.– Say who you are,– Show ambition and creativity,– Build and take care of a Happy Team!

● Work for Hire is the best way to:

– Balance the books, and– Fund your creations,– Boost your visibility,– Build solid relations with the publishers, console makers,– Relax a little bit between two exhausting creative periods.

● It’s been working for us, Ok, but are there other examples?

● Yes, quite a few!
