We need backing storage to save our data when the computer is turned off.

Our work is stored in a computer as a file.

The size of the file is measured in bytes. REASON

When the computer is turned off, data

stored in the memory disappears.

Backing storage is also known as secondary

memory.

EXAMPLEA DVD is a medium

and the DVD drive is the storage device

DVDs can store around 4.7 GB of data. Blue ray disks can store a

lot more.
