10 RULES TO USE ANGLE GRINDERS LONGER AND CHEAPER

10 RULES…

Rule #1

After prolonged use, leave your grinder running for 1-2 minutes at high speed without load. In this manner, the motor is better cooled and lasts longer.

Rule #2

In continuous use, do regular breaks every 15-20 minutes. In this way, the grease restores its optimal properties which is essential for the trouble free work of the gear mechanism.

Rule #3

Small size angle grinders of lower wattage (600-900W) should not be subject of continuous loading since it puts their motors under risk. For demanding jobs, you would better select a more powerful model.

Rule #4

Clean regularly the motor space from dust and debris. An easy way to do it (without disassembling the tool) is by tapping lightly with a piece of wood (or like) on the motor housing while the grinder is idling.

Rule #5

Keep your hand away from vent outlets while the grinder is in use. In this way, the motor is cooled properly and overheating is prevented.

Rule #6

Avoid mounting large size discs (230 mm or like) on a small angle grinder. Otherwise, this may cause high strain on the motor leading to its damage.

Rule #7

Make sure the lock nut and inner flange fastening the disc are properly mounted and without distorted thread.

Rule #8

If you use the grinder regularly (or in demanding cutting jobs), mount 1 mm thick cutting disc. In this way, cutting is more easy, while the disc is lasting longer. 1 mm = 5x longer use

Rule #9

Cut thicker metal profiles in smaller steps applying minimum pressure on the disc. In this way, both the motor and disc will last longer.

10 RULES…

Rule #10

Hold the tool at slight angle while you are grinding. In such a fashion, your disc bears longer and the work piece is less likely to have burn marks left.
