This is a 2-year project which is to design and fabricate a luminaire that ships flat with minimal secondary processing (machine, painting, etc.). Cost and material use analysis are also considered as a key component in this design . The design of the luminaire allows it to be easily assembled either in production or as a ‘ready-to-assembly’ kit.

This lamp is considered how light is controlled, and the general quality of light output in the development of the luminaire. In addition, forms exploration focus on the dimensionalities of 2D flat material.

Chinese New year is one of the most important traditional holidays in China. Often, the evening preceding Chinese New Year’s Day is an occasion for Chinese families to gather for the annual reunion dinner. People will go back home to celebrate with families.

However, thousands of students studying abroad couldn’t go home to because of school. They only can have video chat to celebrate with their families.

Concept

This lamp is inspired by Chinese traditional lantern. So the first try use the paper to cut and curve it like a Chinese traditional lantern. But to make a cylinder with half circle gap in the middle so that the light won’t come out too much and hurt eyes.

The top use acrylic clear material and make lock to connect the body and insider part with the top part. Insider there is a smaller cylinder with clear material so that it won’t hurt eyes.

Development MaterialThis lamp is consist of a few parts: top piece, inside part and outside part. The top piece is made of acrylic; the inside part is made of cloudy soft plastic; and the outside part is made of vinyl. It is very easy to put them together without type.

Materials are be limited to those offered by Ponoko.com or expressly approved by faculty for this project.

Standard Ponoko.com sheet sizes shall be used for fabrication cost and material cost estimates.

Material used shall total no more than three 31.1” x 15.1” pieces, no greater than .25” thickness.

Research

Most girls like flexible posture, they want to put their feet and leg on the chair. Uncomfortable chairs typically put adverse pressure on some part of the body or require excessive muscular work in order to sit.

This can cause soreness and encourage the sitter to adopt slouched postures that restrict circulation, impede respiratory and intestinal function, and lead to musculoskeletal injuries. When people sit on a chair, they want to put their feet higher that allows people feel comfortable with changing more flexible pose.

The purpose of the chair is to find a best solution allowing people can put their feet on chair.

The face of seat is slightly curved to match the foot.

In the development of full-size cardboard study models, seat panels are made several to test the feet position and comfort level.Legs are cut several to test for the seat panel and test the intensity and aesthetic appearance.

The marriage of equalizing balance and tilt in a single seat form - where the advantages of the conventional seat area are combined with the angular benefit of a forward-tilt platform. The term equality is coined to define this principle.

With Gearóid moderation over the quick task chair design, the ability was improved upon to design rapidly. This is a 4-week short project to finish a chair, time schedule is very important. It was a great experience to see his research on posture influence the development of this chair. Also, this is a new challenge that are free to the area of chair in aesthetics, form and use.

This is good change to have Gearóid here to teach how to build a right seat based on seating posture with nice finish and craft.

In addition, there were several design details and solutions that changed during the construction of the full-size. Several decisions were made during this process, which was a balance of form and structure.

DevelopmentBased on the concept of organization, the divisors are needed a triangle structure to allow the dividers to slide in. So the best way is use metal to weld on the trailer. The metal part are 14 in each, and the bottom need to keep some space that allow to clean the trailer easily.

Based on the concept of high lids, the best way to use wood to make a frame and attached the plywood skin because there is no time to order material, which is light and easy to make.

Other than the school’s colors of orange and blue, no consistent usage of the school’s name, initials or the mustang mascot existed on any of its team uniforms, student apparel or athletic venues.During the discovery phase school people uncovered no less than 30 disparate applications of fonts, orientations and combinations of the various brand elements.

A complement of core identifiers which could be used in combination with subordinate wording and interchangeable color combinations was created to accommodate all potential applications of the new branding.
