• To let everyone know and inspire from Van Gogh and his life

• To give everyone a moral lesson ( explained in conclusion)

Who was Van Gogh?

• Poor and unpopular artist in his time.• Born in a Dutch village on March 30, 1853. He

had 6 siblings• The most known sibling of van Gogh is Theo

van Gogh born 4 years after in the year 1857.

What did He do?

• His first jobs were as an art dealer, a teacher, a book seller, and a preacher like his father.

• Non of the jobs satisfied him so he became an artist.

• His first paintings were of poor people and miners he lived near.

• Van Gogh was self taught .• He liked art very much and often he go

without eating just so he could afford art supplies.

How we knew about Van Gogh?

• From his brother Theo, who was an art dealer.• In seventeen years he wrote over 800 letters

to his family and friends. Most of them were written to his brother.

• Theo faithfully preserved the letters he received from Vincent. He recognized his brother's talent, encouraged him, and supported him financially.

Van Gogh Illness

• Mentally unstable.• He used to have delusions and hear voices.• He had attacks during which he could not

work. Once when he was having such an attack he tried to swallow paint and kerosene.

Death

• His life ended sadly in 1890 at the age of 37. • Only July 27 he shot himself and died after 2

days. • After Vincent's death Theo only lived for six

months.

• He was less appreciated during his lifetime and his fame grew in the years after his death.

• Today many of his pieces are among the world's most recognizable and expensive works of art.

• One of his paintings sold for $82.5 million. That's the most anyone has ever paid for a painting.
