Riyadh climate is extremely hot in summer

and cold in winter. It is characterized by

low humidity throughout the year about

(10 – 47 ) %, especially in the summer, and

the great difference between

temperatures during the day and night.

The rate of rainfall between 0 and 9.5

centimeters.

There are to many pollution factors

surrounding the area. starting from

the high noise which could reach

87dp & co2 emission from the high

ways & The trucks of the water station

, also the high voltage towers and The

offence car storage which act as a

visual pollution .

The site is characterized by separating

Buildings

Conclusion

1- The parking is less than150 m from the

buildings witch is a reasonable distance to

walk also the area is free from vehicle

movement & the buildings could be reached

from different directions from the parking .

2- The pedestrian network is complicated

without a clear main walkway

3- The buildings shape gave up on the

optimum direction for the sunlight & the wind

movement for creating a micro climate .

4- The buildings have privacy problems for

being near to each other with 6m setback

distance.

5- The green area represent 50% of the total

area that’s accomplished by using the

ground floor of the buildings as green areas.

6- The day care center located in central

way to be easy to reach & near the shops for

safety .

7-The use of the building roofs & car parking

Shades for generating solar energy .

Conclusion

1- The successful separation between

pedestrian & vehicles movement witch

allow to create a safe walkways .

2- The successful hierarchy of open spaces

between private to public spaces .

3- All the services can be reached by

walking.

4- The residential area represent 50 % , 15 %

services , 25 % Green area & 10 % streets .

5- The commercial area in the side of the

project serving the project & surrounding

area .

6- Each group of building has its own entry

witch gives a good control to prevent the

unwanted visitors .

7- The use of the building roofs for solar water

heating & kids playground.

MASTER PLAN

Conclusion

1- A central area & sub- centers to serve the

Neighborhood with mosques , schools , shops

& public areas.

2- The successful separation between

pedestrian & vehicles movement witch

allow to create a connected safe walkways .

3- Only 4 main Entries to the neighborhood

gives a great control & external parking for

services & visitors .

4- The midrise buildings are too close to the

residential buildings witch will cause a privacy

problem to the houses .

5- Shaded walkways for pedestrians .

6- Divide The neighborhood into smaller

neighborhoods .

Street hierarchy

Concept

Perspectives

Conclusion

1-32 Entries to the neighborhood will make it hard to

control & misleading to visitors .

2- A successful green area hierarchy from private to public

serving all the neighborhood .

3- An underground streets to afford a continues & safe

open spaces to walk to the services

4-The residential units are different to create a unique

residential groups.

5- Adopted the design of the buildings with the inner

courtyard to it is suitability of the climate .

6- The commercial use is separated in a way to serve the

neighborhood only & there is no parking for it also is it not

accessible from outside witch is not beneficial for such

use.

7- An organic from gives a natural feeling of planning &

helps to reduce the speed of vehicles inside the

neighborhood .

Pros & Cons : Pros :

1- Creating micro Climate for the units .

2- High control of streets which prevent

penetration .

3- the connectivity & continuity of public

Air ventilation

the approach is to create a planning unit which reacts towards the very

strong environmental aspects as high temp, sun radiation, percentage of

humidity. in addition to the weakness of social life

To approach that compact pattern used in addition to the innovative

membrane structure which will make shade to all units and increase

humidity due to the green the area under it, also the membrane will help

to circulate the air.

The green area will be watered by grey water of the houses.

These two elements of design will emphasize the social life by giving the

feeling of living under one roof
