SURVEY RESPONCEI sent my Survey Monkey questionnaire out to people within the age range of my chosen target audience. This is a pie chart showing the results for question1.From this chart I able to defer that my target audiences the most afraid of small spaces. I will use this information to help produce my horror trailer. I will do this be including scenes within my trailer which either places the protagonist in a small space or either use the camera to achieve the effect of the audience feeling that they are in a small, confined space.

Question 2-Do you like the use of gore?

This is a bar chart showing me the results of this question. The results from this question show me that the majority of my target audience member do NOT like the use of gore within movies. Due to these responses I will include little to no gore within my own trailer and production work. The second most popular answer was ‘To some extent’ again this shows how not even is always on board with too much gore.

From these results I am able to defer that Psychological horror is the most preferred subgenre with supernatural horror and zombie horror following behind. When brain storming ideas for our horror trailer plot I will make sure that our groups sub genre would be something which explore psychological horror.

I have found that the soundtrack to be one of the conventions which draw audience members in to watching a movie. In my project I will try to incorporate multiple sound effects and sound tracks to help build a suspenseful piece of work. I will also use the trailer convention of pacing to help improve the soundtrack of my media text.

For my final question I hinted at particular subgenres. For example with the option ‘Seeing things fall off the wall by itself’ I was hinting at the supernatural sub-genre.Overall from these results I have found that the majority of people are afraid of being trapped within their own homes as they hide from invaders.

From all of the information that I have collected throughout all of the survey questions I believe that a horror movie falling within the ‘Psychological’ sub-genre would work well to attract my target audience. I also feel that I should try to incorporate some form of ‘invader’. As this seems to scare my audience very much.
