Overall Strategy

Given the nature of the projects we have tailored our ideas to be able to work with other groups while also reaching our key goals

We have focused our ideas and planning on: Principally the raised beds on the

right side as per map Prayer tree in green area to rear of

plants The periphery of the raised bed area

Page 3: Sensory Garden Proposal - Bawnmore, Limerick

Primary Considerations

The garden should be a comfortable space for users to enjoy

A wide range of senses are catered for

Enough variety to maintain interest

Various forms of user interaction

Safe and suitable for the intended users

To develop plans at a reasonable and realistic cost

Rain Chains

Originated in Japan

Alternative to downspouts

Transports water to a drain or storage container

Can be a water feature in itself

Can also be used to collect water needed for other features

Bed 4 cont… Taking in the light

Beautiful creeper plant for the lamp post

This Jasminum Polyanthum looked and smelled gorgeous and was attached to a pole.

Green fence material wrapped around it which the creeper could use to grow upwards.

It would get the lamp post out of sight and have the lights seem like they're being suspended in the air.

The lamp post seems out of place at the moment, particularly as its in a flower bed and this would allow it to blend more into the environment.

(Honeysuckle is another alternative)

Bench 1 and 2 – Phone cone

Phone Cone running behind benches (possibly underground)

Encourage user interaction

Border – Protecting the beauty

The wind and outside noise prevents the space from feeling safe and enjoyable

We propose to put a bamboo type border are the two most exposed sides to protect the area from the wind

This will help us create a safe haven for our sensory garden

23.4 meters worth
