KICK-PED▪ A kick scooter, push scooter or scooter, is a human-powered land vehicle with a handlebar, deck and wheels

that is propelled by a rider pushing off the ground.

▪ Some kick scooters that are made for younger children have 3 or 4 wheels and are made of plastic or do not fold.

▪ High performance racing scooters made for adults resemble the old "penny-farthing" with a much larger wheel in front.

FOLDING SCOOTER▪ Folding kick scooters optimized for adults generally have more durable parts and are designed with wider

decks, hand brake, and larger wheels, for smoother transportation.

▪ A folding scooter can be more easily carried than a folding bicycle or even a portable bicycle.

LITERATURE RESEARCH

LITERATURE RESEARCH▪ The conventional skateboard with an upright handle is fixed in structure so that it is difficult to carry. Hence,

a collapsible skateboard has been developed to obviate this drawback. However, such a collapsible skateboard is complicated in structure and expensive in cost. Furthermore, the handle of the collapsible skateboard cannot be kept at a fixed position, thereby making it inconvenient to use.

▪ A collapsible skateboard includes an upright handle having lower portion on which is fixedly mounted a bracket, a connector having a curved slot having a lower end formed with a horizontal recess, an upper end formed with a vertical recess and a circular hole under the vertical recess, an adjust pin inserted into the vertical recess of the connector and the elongated hole of the bracket, a pivot pin fitted through the circular hole of the connector and the circular hole of the bracket, a spring having an upper end connected to the adjust pin and a lower end to the pivot pin, and a platform on which is fixedly mounted the connector, whereby the skateboard can be easily folded up as desired.

DESIGN WITH DIMENSIONS

FINAL DESIGN▪ Bending Deck

The deck can be rotated around a groove placed at the centre of the deck. This enables to convert the scooter into a foldable and portable mode.

Page 12: SCOOTDENT - CAMPUS SCOOTER

FINAL DESIGN▪ Bracket

The bracket has been introduced with a height adjuster which could together be folded to fit the size of the already folded deck using a prismatic joint.

▪ Front wheelThe front wheel has been connected to the bracket

▪ Rear BrakesThe rear wheel has a mudguard consisting of brakes, which could be easily applied by putting the foot over the mudguard to slow down.

Page 13: SCOOTDENT - CAMPUS SCOOTER

FINAL DESIGN▪ Rotatable wheels

The wheels could be rotated freely around the protruding bearings, thus making them compactly packable when not in use. A joint mechanism has been used to keep the wheels intact when on road.

Page 14: SCOOTDENT - CAMPUS SCOOTER

FINAL DESIGN▪ Handle

The handle could be folded individually.
