1. RUBE GOLDBERG MACHINE Made by Reuben Owen Xavier and Bailey
The cooler
2. THE TASK The task was that we had to make an Rube Goldberg
Machine the conditions were that our machine must be planed, our
machine must do something, plans must be detailed as possible
including annotations and measurements, our machine must be in the
space of one cardboard box, our rube Goldberg machine must have the
amount of elements equal to or more than the amount of people in
the group and our rube Goldberg machine must have the amount of
simple machines equal to or more than the people in people in the
group.
3. THE DESIGN AND PLANNING When we were planning our machine we
thought about the conditions and we had a small problem with the
simplicity of our design soon after a few drawings we finally wrote
an finished design.
4. THE START Our rube Goldberg machine starts with a toy car
rolling down a large incline plane hitting a lever but we were
originally going to use a bowling ball but we were not able to make
our support strong enough to hold the weight of the bowling
ball.
5. THE PULLBACK CAR AND VOLVO This part of the machine involves
a pull back car and a smaller matchbox car it works like this the
large toy car hits the lever that triggers a small matchbox car to
hit a pencil that is stopping a pull back car from moving the
pencil is used as a lever causing the car to move forward and hit a
lever.
6. THE PINBALL MACHINE The pinball machine was originally going
to be a thing that has multiple balls and a few holes in the ground
and each ball would fall into a hole an the balls behind it would
roll over the ball in front of it. But this was to hard to build
and had no simple machines so we swiched to a pinball machine witch
was simpler to make.
7. THE STAIRWAY TO COOLING This part of the machine has dominos
going up some wooden stairs that bailey made Xavier had a go at
making some but his measurements were 10 centimeters short of the
measurements required. It was hard to think of a way to get energy
going uphill. We decided that dominos would be the most efficient
way of getting energy going uphill. (these dominos are close to
impossible to set up.)
8. THE FAN This part of the machine turns on the fan. The
dominos hit a car held in place with masking tape the car hits a 50
gram weight that is connected to a short plastic stick taped to the
fan dial so it turns when the car hits it.
9. EVALUATION I think that my group has worked well through all
the problems tat we have faced and have achieved and learnt many
things. My group was the only group that managed to move energy up
hill. I am very happy with my rube Goldberg machine and the way we
solved our problems.
