Printer Set Up

Objectives

Before Powering On Printer

It is important to set the printer up with the material tray, cartridge, and other items described in this section before powering up the printer.

Install the material cartridge last. It will interfere with the shuttle plate when plate is unlock and lifted.

After set up is completed, and power is on to the printer, it will go through an initialization phase which will detect missing items such as the cartridge, material tray; etc.

Ensure printer set up is completed before powering on the printer.

Leveling Printer

It is very important that the printer is completely leveled to ensure good part quality.

Ensure the work table is sturdy and does not allow movement during printer operation.

C) Using a 7/16” open-end wrench, loosen nuts on leveling feet, Adjust feet in X&Y as needed. Once completely leveled, tighten nuts.

A) Open door and unlock shuttle plate and lift up.

B) Place bubble level (in Parts & Tool Kit) in the center of glass.

Cleaning Image Mirrors

It is very important to clean the image mirror before printing.

Never use solvents or cleaning materials other than the anti-static brush supplied in the tool kit. Doing so could cause scratches on the mirrors that affects the quality of the print!

1. Using a flat screw driver, unlock right back panel.

3. Using a flat screw driver, unlock the front panel.

2. Lift panel up from the frame notches.

4. Turn the wing nut located on the inside of front side panel to release.

6. Brush off the image mirror using the anti-static brush located Reinstall panels after cleaning.

5. Lift panel from printer.

Install Print Pad & Print Platform

Remove the adhesive backing from print pad and install pad onto print platform. Install platform in the platform holder and press the two red levers down.

Install Material Tray Cover Unlock shuttle plate. Lift shuttle plate up and install material cover in

the back of chassis.

Tray Gasket Install

Remove adhesive backing from gasket and install around imager glass.

Install Material Tray

Install material tray on the front of shuttle plate, resting on gasket.

Install coater bar onto the shuttle bar fingers

Install Material Cartridge

Before installing the cartridge, pinch the two valves on material cartridge to ensure they are completely open. If the valves/valve are closed, please contact 3D Systems customer support.

Before using the cartridge, it should be shaken side to side to ensure its contents are thoroughly mixed. Shake material bottle in a left and right motion. Mixed for at least 1 minute then install in the system and proceed.

Install Material Cartridge

Open material door and slide cartridge in until fully seated. Close door.

Flip cap up to vent cartridge. Keep cap open during printing for ventilation.
