What is being soldPlan Ahead is a set of mini-games created to support the Pre-Production Phase of Game Development training module.The mini-games included revolve around the three stages of the pre-production phase.The games are meant to test the users knowledge on Game Design Documents, Level Layouts and Prototyping.

How the sell will happenBy creating light concepts to display various game mechanics, combined with information from the module, the users will enjoy a game experience that is connected with their training.The sell will also derive from the rewards that can be earned through the mini-games, which can be used to help the users create their own video game.

Game componentsThe components of the game will change with each mini-game that is encountered (example mini-games can be viewed later in the presentation).Although the components will change, the user will have three topics to choose from for their collection of mini-games: Game Design Document, Level Layouts and Prototyping.The user can switch between any of the three topics at anytime.

Leveling SystemAlthough the game will consist of various mini-games, the mini-games are used to help the player level up.Plan Ahead will have three different player levels included for each player, one for each of the three sections of the pre-production phase of game development.Completing games in one section (such as Prototyping) will not count towards the players level in the other two sections (Game Design Document and Level Layouts).

Game strategiesEach mini-game will be timed.The player will have 60 seconds to complete the tasks included in each mini-game.Mini-games will consist of two different types of objectives- Complete the overall task- Score as many points as possible within the time limit

The player must complete the task assigned to them (pass/fail scenarios).If the player completes the task, they will be given a set number of points towards leveling up.If the player fails to complete the task, they will receive no points.The player must accrue as points as possible in the mini-game.Accrue points mini-games will not be pass/fail scenarios.The player will keep the points earned in the mini-game to help them level up in one of the three sections.Game objectivesComplete the taskAccrue points

Goals of the mini-gamesOne goal of Plan Ahead is to help the player practice the three sections of the pre-production phase of game development.Another goal of Plan Ahead is to reach the maximum level for each of the three sections of the pre-production phase of game development (level 10).The mini-games will consist of information that derives directly from the topics covered in the training module.

MotivationOne motivation for Plan Ahead will be to test the players knowledge of the pre-production phase before implementing the information into their creation.Another motivation (the main motivation) for Plan Ahead is for the rewards included for leveling up in each of the three sections.Another motivation for Plan Ahead is to compare your accomplishments with other players.

RewardsRewards for Plan Ahead will be earned for reaching a new level in one of the three sections.Rewards earned by the player will consist of two types: badges and usable rewards.Badges earned can be displayed on social media outlets to show off the players accomplishments.

Usable rewardsUsable rewards will consist of downloadable content to help the player with the production of their own game creations.Rewards for the Game Design Document (GDD) section will be example GDDs that the player can use as a reference.Rewards for the Level Layout section will be icons and images that the player can use in their own level layouts.Rewards for the Prototype section will consist of templates and example code that the player can use to help bring their game to life.
