There are few people who could impact generations, even fewer contribute really shaping future generations, and even lot less who could do it all with a child-like enthusiasm.
You have enthusiasm and curiosity about everything! Your inquisitiveness is infectious, your passion for design and therefore for life is unique.

Sir always treated IDC as his favorite child and we witnessed his dedication to raise IDC to the level of a premium design institute. He always used his influence to make IDC more visible on the world map.
I have had many opportunities to interact with him since my IDC days, till recent meeting at Welingkars.
I used to share my professional achievements with him, time to time. His appreciation for my Design Store initiative, a post-retirement venture, was quite encouraging and motivating.
Honestly, I owe my professional success to Sir.

Prof. Nadkarni is an incredible magician of design!
Whatever he touched got created and transformed into fully developed entities, be it institutions, products, exhibitions, graphics and so ongraphics and so on.He did the same magic of touch and transformed two of my products when I was at IDC. He remembers students by their projects, than by their names. I am still his “Jewellery-wala”.
H i d h i d dHe continues to do the same magic even today and I pray to god to give him all the time, to keep creating.
I am honored to be associated with me, and his involvement at SID.

I have known Prof. Nadkarni for over twenty-five years as my professor and later as my colleague.
I really admired his skills be it managing interpersonal relations orI really admired his skills, be it managing interpersonal relations, or taking new initiatives. He was also the one who started the Industrial Design Centre in IIT, Mumbai.
He gets the credit to initiate 3 design institutes which in itself is an ll l d ib i h d i f i i I diunparalleled contribution to the design profession in India.
On a personal level, I find him very humane, supportive and he continuously encourages everybody to achieve their goals.

Prof. Nadkarni brought a lot of ‘colour’ to my dry and staid engineer’s mind.
He not only helped establish the Department of Design at IIT Guwahati, but influenced many of the decisions taken during the design and construction of the campus.the design and construction of the campus.
The beautiful campus of IIT Guwahaticarries his imprint.

Two things stand out about Prof. Nadkarni’s work.
The first is that his voice is both ‘completely Indian and completely ’ A d h i i l b l i i kcontemporary.’ And that is an exceptional balancing trick.
There are plenty of designers who produce contemporary stuff, but they end up looking ‘Scandinavian’ or whatever.
