Cash Manager Research & RationalisationI was hired to be part of an enjoyable UX design team consisting of ahipster, a hacker and a hustler.

The full end-to-end UX/UCD lifecycle was performed from an initial conceptto the product launch. We researched and designed an App to be theprimary conduit for all of the corporate transactions for Deutsche Bank. Ourchallenge involved designing a simple experience to increase the rate ofuser interaction in order to hit a goal of €trillions posted each 24 hours.

Over 3000 lines of research from 80+ global customers were used to createa mass of user stories suiting our various personas. Product managers anddevelopers also contributed, so we each performed severe UX productrationalisation using the Kano model for high quality first-launch features.

Cash Manager Design processI use Balsamiq to sketch out my screen ideas; lower fidelity reviews willresult in more severe critiques. For designs used in concept testing andusability evaluations, I use Axure to create my high fidelity rapid prototypes.

I remotely operated within an agile UX environment with developers, designers and stakeholders between London, North Carolina, Singapore,Frankfurt, and Amsterdam. NotableApp allowed us to collaborate designwork, modernising our approach from traditional static reviews.

Modern design standards were defined and we convinced the business toinvest in our new interactions models ensuring that user workflows weresimple, enjoyable and speedy – yet also deliverable by the developers.

Cash Manager Interface designA comparison showing an extremelyearly screen concept of basic featureproposals, versus the final applicationmapped to design standards.

The fully agile method allowed us todiscuss issues and queries with thedevelopers, then rapidly alter ourdesigns in order to marry goodfunctionality with available technology. Ikept a close watch over the nightlybuilds.

All screens were matched with detaileduser stories updated on the fly toensure that when tested, our slightdesign nudges would not cause alarm.

Cash Manager Usability evaluationI designed a large-scale usability evaluation which would discover the finerpoints of a user’s new workflow as they used the App.

It was to be performed across five cities with corporate clients and thentaken further around the world as additional countries were implemented;from our research I observed differing cultural workflows and aimed foreach major client to experience a smooth experience as they came online.

Cash Manager iPad sales toolWhen it was time to present our App to the world, I wanted to change thecorporate standard of using outdated and uncreative methods such asstandard slide deck templates, static agency videos and verbose fliers.

I created a lightweight iPad version of our App which could be demoed byProduct Managers whilst using my script. A data connection was notrequired - an ideal tool for conferences, client visits and guerilla testing.

The app was showcased via the tool at Sibos in Dubai and later used withlarge prospective clients such as Apple, Bosch, Electrolux and Viacom.

Cash Manager Feedback modelApp marketClosed corporate App Markets are a new concept. I did not know whethercustomers would be willing to provide us with useful feedback, like what’sseen via Google Play. Before a costly development was undertaken, Idesigned a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to be tested on live users.

The collection method will drastically alter the quality; I wanted users topush feedback through when they felt the need to communicate, while alsohaving us pull feedback by intercepting users after an App experience. Allnull responses were logged, the MVP response rate dictated whether suchan initiative was a worthwhile investment.

2. Pull feedback“How was your experience today?” - App Market

I theorised that log-out interceptions wouldprovide a unique style of feedback from usersegments when triggered regarding their freshexperiences, rather than coming to us with agedproblems, queries, or frustrations.

Pull modal

1. Push feedback“I have something to say ” - Customer

Designed to be easily rolled out overall existing Apps withoutcustomization, along with thefeedback content, a snapshot of theuser’s current situation was alsocaptured to pinpoint what they weredoing at the time. Analytics woulddrive out when users are most likely tovoice their opinions so that we couldstrike first to locate problem areasand frustrating experiences.

This was a challenging yet rewarding project.
