HOW TO PROPERLY CUT & SIZE A HOCKEY STICKBy: Sean Langrieger
SUPPLIES• Hockey Stick• Marker• Vise Grip• Flathead Screwdriver• Hacksaw
STEP 1: PROPERLY SIZING THE STICK
• Stand without shoes on• Use the marker to draw a line
on the stick at nose-level
STEP 2: PROPERLY USING THE VISE GRIP
• Hold the stick with left hand• Place right hand on the vise
grip’s hand crank• Twist the hand crank to the
right; tightening the stick into place• Do not tighten too much
because the vise grip can break the stick
STEP 3: REMOVING THE BUTT-END
• Place the tip of the flathead screwdriver at the stick’s butt-end
• Gently pry each of the 4 sides of the butt-end
• The butt-end should pop out with ease
STEP 4: SAFELY CUTTING THE STICK
• Take the hacksaw in dominate hand
• Line up the hacksaw at the marker which was earlier placed on the stick
• Grind the hacksaw back and forth in a downward motion on the stick until the cut is complete
STEP 5: REPLACING THE BUTT-END
• Twist the vise grip’s hand-crank counterclockwise to release the stick
• Take the butt-end and push the corners where the stick was cut• The butt-end does not
go right in• Hit the stick’s butt-end
straight down into the ground
