My 3 takeaways from Design Thinking Action Lab Course:-1) The most important thing that I have been influenced from

this course is that a problem or I should say a design can be analysed in two ways. The first solution could be simple and straight forward, whereas the other solution could be a cluster of many small and challenging ideas. So one should not always take the straight forward path to solve a problem as sometimes it may not lead to desired result.Infact one should consider the challenging options as well as this would motivate and encourage the stakeholder to do something different.

2) Second thing that I learnt is that one should frame as many ideas as possible to solve a problem or implement a design.Don’t just think that this idea is not good and the other one is good.Atleast try to build up a suitable prototype for each idea and then test it.Then only decide which idea is most suitable and will yield the best result.

3) Third thing that I learnt is that peer discussions helps you to think and analyse problems from different perspectives. One gets to receive different feedback for a single problem statement. In this way we get to receive different ideas that we at once thought would not be possible. Moreover we get to know the views and problems of different stakeholders and finding different solutions to their problems is itself a challenge overcomed.

1. Reflecting on our mindset which involves focussing on oneself that how can a problem be solved whether by simpler means or by some challenging method.

2. Try to place yourself at that person’s place who is to be considered in the design process. For example,if you want to design a creche or a play school, think as if you are a small 4 year child and what all you will need in a play school as a child.

3. Create an empathy map for that problem or design and try to analyse each and every hook and corner of that problem or the design which you want to implement.

4. Interview the stakeholder and try to pen down all the points that he/she replies and try to built a problem statement ant its insights.

5. Now try finding out differents ideas to solve the problem of the stakeholder,Here consider each and every idea from small to big to complex one.The number of ideas whether possible or not may range from few to many.

6. Now choose best three ideas among those several ideas which you think can be surely feasible or I should say that would yield possible results.

7. Now try to built up or create a prototype for those best three ideas chosen.Protype refers to how can an idea be implemented practically.

8. Now test those prototypes on the stakeholder and observe which prototype yields the best result. It may happen that prototype may not work at first time, but try to apply it again by building either a new prototype or trying again that old protype.

9. Finally we get the best idea suited to make a design implementedor to solve a problem.

10.Now try to apply this whole process to solve different problems or to implement new designs.

REFLECTION OF DESIGN THINKING PROCESS:

Since I wanted to do something for the betterment of the society and wanted to bring some administrative reforms, this design thinking process will surely going to help me in achieving this goal. Firstly I’ll analyse what

exactly the reforms I need to bring in the society and try to find out different paths to reach my goal.

Secondly I’ll interview different people or I should say stakeholders and try to find out and analyse their views on those problems in society and existing administrative structure.

Based on stakeholder’s views,I’ll bulit up a common problem statement with its insight that is actually needed to be focussed on.

Then I’ll note down all the possible ideas to find out a solution to hat problem statement. For example.since I want to reform the existing working strategy of administrators, for this I may form a NGO and involve people of my age group.I’ll try to bring awareness among he members of my NGO about the problems being faced by local people and how adminstration has become untrustworthy.

Then by selecting the best ideas among those several ideas,I’ll create a protype and then test those ideas in my own local city with the help of my NGO members.

Finally the best idea suited will be selected and then I’ll try to implement ad apply that idea at next higher level. But throught the process the most important prt would be the help and views of my NGO members as their support and advice will lead to the final outcome.
