  1. 1. What have you learnt about technologies from the making of this product? Evaluation Question 6
  2. 2. I started with a plain blue-lilac background. I chose this colour as it works with the colour scheme. Although Ill be placing images over this, Ill be reducing the opacity meaning that the lilac colour will show through.
  3. 3. I then added a grungy scratched metal background and applied the blend mode multiply and reduced the opacity to 72%. This meant that the lilac colour is visible through the image, while the vibrancy and contrast of the image are maintained. (Original image)
  4. 4. I then applied a floral background over the top. However, as you can see, the original image looked different before applying the divide blend more and reducing the opacity to 65%
  5. 5. What Ive learnt from this process How blend modes on PhotoShop work How to use blending modes to create a new, unique background using already existing images
  6. 6. I then applied a plain black box shape and reduced the opacity to 68%. This way, the background can still be seen but a more plain, flat background is provided for the text to be placed over.
  7. 7. Microsoft Publisher does have text wrapping features, so I used this to create my article. I wrote the main body of the article in one textbox, changed the alignment to two columns, wrote the pull quote in another text box and placed it over the article. The software automatically wrapped the text in the text box underneath around the quote. I then changed the background to black and changed the fonts to the colours I wanted.
  8. 8. Then I screen capped the article, and pasted it into PhotoShop. Then I cropped the screencap leaving just the article and applied the blend mode Linear Dodge (Add) which made the black background translucent. Then I resized the box to fit the page.
  9. 9. Heres the finished product. The same basic principles of using blend modes to create different effects have been adopted in different ways. Blend mode Lighten Blend mode Linear Dodge (Add) Blend mode Screen
  10. 10. Through a direct comparison between the preliminary task and the final main task, you can see that Ive learned about DTP technologies as the final product is more advanced and professional looking. This is due to the skills Ive learnt in using editing technology.
