2013 - present: experimenting with projects across cultures and design methods/ collaboration.

Design Across Cultures

City, Industry, University come together in Labs

Local city challenges, with global equivalents. Citizen Empowerment.

Within the city Labs, MDTs work locally, but share knowledge and results globally

Exchange of students from one city to the other

To be able to build upon each other’s insights and results

Common Language

The MDTs speak the common language of (design) methods

Constant flow between Research & Create meeting each other in the Translation

RESEARCH CREATE

translate

Translate: To make your insights understandable

Transfer: To make your insights usable

Duration: 2-3hr session

Present: Preferrably all knowledge partners,

the team and deligated PO (coach)

Teams present their results

Together with knowledge partner(s) the

team translates these into insights

A hierarchy of the insights is made

Insights are translated into User Stories,

both from a) an end-user persepctive and

b) a team perspective

Then for each User Story, the added valuefor the current sprint is evaluated. Based

on the value, a US can move to the sprintlog

or the backlog (either accepted for sprint inclusion

or transferred to a next sprint)

The results can be fromresearch you have done(methods applied, tests,desk-research, etc.)

The results can be fromthings you have made, designed and thereforeexperienced (prototypes, technical requirements testing, etc.)

17 Research cards - 36 Create cards

Define Goals and Intentions Know the User Frame your Insights Ideation and Concepts Create and Test

Perfect for agile and lean environments + MDTs to plan research and improve decision making.
